Ok...Fretted Strings had inspired me to try a short capo....at first I just reversed my capo so that on the 2nd fret it covered all strings except for the low E...instant drop D tuning in the Key of E! I was hooked!!!! So there are no short capos available locally and I am too impatient to wait for one to come in the mail soooooo....I look over at my trusty old planet waves NS capo and think....what the hay! A cut here, a file there....this could be good!
All I did was cut the rubber with an exacto blade utility knife once I marked it with pen to remove the rubber above the Low E, Hi E and B strings. I used a hacksaw to cut off the excess aluminum over the Hi E and B strings, and then dressed the end with a flat file and then painted black with a black magic marker.
I had to use a rat tail file to take out a bit of aluminum above where the low E string is as it slightly buzzed against the aluminum. She works like a charm!
So now, I am playing Gordon Lightfoots "Early Mornin Rain" with One finger in Glorious Short Capo lushness! Woo Hoo! 8)
Thanks Fretted!!!!
