Okay, GAD. This has now officially become a contest. Prizes? Prizes?

First prize is @GAD will set up a block so that @fronobulax cannot see your posts for 24 hours and so will not moderate them, nor treat an obvious joke as something serious nor try and rein in a veer.

That prize is clearly so awesome that there is absolutely no need for a second prize, but if others feel differently, second prize can be the pick of the instruments that were not selected. ("pick" can be negotiated but probably only means GAD will bring the instrument to a NJ LTG gathering and let the second prize winner play it for 30 minutes). :) Transportation to and accommodations in NJ not included).

While we're waiting for the great unveil, just wondering, what rent are you asking for "This space available" in your signature?

Yeah, her public wishes to know!

Her public! She's gonna love that. :)

Interesting responses everyone!

What I found fascinating is how she's evolving as a guitarist, because though she did absolutely lay claim to the Seafoam D25 in pics, it was in the bottom of the pile after playing them all.

Her top pick? The DV72-MK! What's even more interesting (to me at least) is that she says he prefers the looks of guitars with less bling, but the sound and response of the DV72-MK was simply the best to her. Surprisingly she didn't like the Doyle Dykes at all, though she did comment that she liked the white roses on the bridge. I think that comes down to two things: First, it's smaller than all the rest so tone-wise doesn't measure up to her main style of playing (strumming), and the smaller DD just can't keep up with the canons in the room when it comes to strumming. Secondly she absolutely hated the fretboard markers on the DD. I was surprised because that guitar clearly fit her better than the big dreads.

Putting the Corona D25 up against the others just wasn't fair and what I found so very cool was that she could feel and hear that though she couldn't necessarily articulate why she felt that way. While that guitar sounds great on its own, some of the other guitars in the room were just on another planet by comparison.

The F50R was just too damn big for her and she could barely reach the strings with her strumming hand. She definitely liked the D55 and D66, and loved the inlays on the D66, but te DV72 just beat them all to her. To me it has such a refined sound while still being crazy loud that it deserves the top honor in her ranking.

I feel bad for her if she ever goes shopping for an acoustic guitar because she's been so freaking spoiled, but I always tell her to tell me which ones she likes so that I don't sell those. That way she never has to go shopping. She did say that she'd feel bad having such a nice guitar because she's afraid of damaging it. She'll get over that eventually. :)

Nice! That would have been my pick based on looks, lacking the ability to play and compare them.

P.S. Nothing wrong with being freaking spoiled. Just my opinion.

Obviously, she has great taste in acoustic guitars. Hope to join her one day in ownership of another DV72.
You go girl.

Well, I picked wrong but she certainly picked the best looking of the bunch. And she wisely let her ears guide her which is probably the most important lesson.

You mentioned 'Dust in the Wind' and 'Blackbird', can I assume she is finger-picking these correctly? You then talk about her strumming hand so I got confused. If she can finger-pick those so can you have her teach them to me?

LOL. She finger-picks them probably improperly since she watched me play and I can only use two fingers on my right hand. That's proven to be a real problem trying to learn how to play the resonators, let me tell you.

I needed to know how tall she was to make a final call. The guitar had to fit, before she would pick. ( or strum )

Over all the years, the DV72 or 73 seems consistently to be one of the LTG’s most beloved acoustic Guild.

Your daughter has now confirmed it. Congrats!

So GAD, you gave it to her, right? Like she left the house with it. 😀

Ouchie!

Very inspiring to hear your daughter's choices, GAD. She's truly lucky to have the chance and guidance to cultivate an ear. As a player, it took me an embarrassingly long time to learn about subtle differences in gear. Good job! I'm sure it must make you feel good. :C)

His daughter just went straight to the champagne budget guitars. I'm not so sure this was a very good idea.
