My daughter asked if she could play all my Guild Acoustics, and they all happened to be here so she got to play:

D25 - Corona Seafoam
D55 - New Hartford
D66
F50R - New Hartford
DV72-MK
DD6MCE

Skill-wise, she is self taught aside from what I've shown her, and has been playing for probably three years. Though she's never seriously studied (as in with a teacher) or played with others, she can play a Bm7 without looking and can change chords with ease. She can play Dust in The Wind and Blackbird, and if I show her something new she picks it up with the ease of someone with a 20-year-old's brain.

Her current acoustic is a beautiful small Takamine that fits her well but she is now attracted to the fuller sound of a larger guitar.

She played each of them for probably 10-15 minutes, and while I explained the different levels of bling to her, I did not explain differences in wood, build, bracing, or any of that tech stuff. I just let her play.

So which one do you think she chose? I'll update Friday afternoon. :)

My guess is the d-25 because of the mellowness in tone and colour. 😉

GAD:
If only to be your daughter for two hours, I would erase one Guild from MY Bucket List---I would choose the DV72 MK.
And your daughter sounds like a very quick learner with loads of guitar chording skill. She could play more today and change her mind but I am gonna say Colleen chose the New Hartford D55. I know that made "Daddy" smile.
And so thankful she is doing well!

I want to say the seafoam D-25, but that seems too obvious so I'll go with a longshot - the D-66.

Will she lean toward sound and playability more than looks or looks is high up on her priorities?

D-25 as well. I seem to recall she has previously expressed opinions that have a large cosmetic component to them.

+1 on the DD. Size-wise, and bling-wise, the best fit.

Great story, GAD! It must be great having her share your interest, and of course it's great that she's happy and healthy!
