I was checking through the GC used listings when I came across an F112 (mislabelled as an L 112  ) that had been reduced to $499 in the Evansville (IN) store. It had been converted to a 6 string, but it had the original tuners, nut and saddle in the original hard case. I called the store to ask about condition. The bridge looked to have been reglued at some point, but aside from normal buckle rash and neckware, he said it showed no cracks or problems. String height was good (although when I change it back to a 12er, I'll have to watch that).

For that price, how could I refuse. (Especially since I don't have a 12 string in my stable. )

Here's the GC pic. I'll post more when it gets delivered.

I saw that this morning--was very confused by the model number and by the fact that there were only six tuners. Clearly I didn't look at the details of the listing. Congratulations--I hope it turns out great.

F112's are great guitars, but that trc has got to go!
I think its just catching the light in the pic. It looks like the original shield TRC, and I bet it is black. I'll let you know.

We may be looking at the backside! New instructions for the TRC police!
I'm sitting in the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, waiting for my plane. Gotta couple of minutes to kill. Can you tell?

Sincerely,

I was thinking exactly the same when I saw the guitar, because the TRC looks like a smidgen to big, the seller mounted it with the white inside to the outside.
I can't remember we had this case covered by the TRC police yet!
Have a safe flight home Hans!

Joe??? Separated at birth??? :?
Here's mine.

f1126solo.jpg

1976 F112, fully converted to a 6 string.
New Grover tuners, new nut and saddle.
Head and bridge reworked/refinished in original configuration to accommodate new tuners and bridge pins.

Great little 6 string with a comfortably wide neck, 1 13/16 at the nut.

When I put new strings on my 12ers I always take 6 off and play it awhile as a six.

Re: (Arrived) NGD '75 F112

The F-112 arrived this evening safe and sound. I won't be able to do the conversion back to a 12 string for a few days, but already I've had a few quite interesting discoveries.

The condition was as described, perfectly happy with it.

The truss rod cover may never been resolved, although I think Hans may have been right, and it was on backwards with the white showing. The reason we'll never know? In the pic it is right side up and (possibly) backwards. When it arrived it had the front face showing, but was upside down. I'm guessing the salesperson noticed it was backwards and tried to put it right. How he managed to get the shield upside down...

It did indeed come with an original Guild case, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't it's original case. For one thing, it was the wrong size. For another, there was a receipt in the "stuff" box for a D-30 and a Guild owner's manual listing Guild as a division of FMIC! (The F-112 is a '75.) I'm guessing the owner put the 112 in the wrong case when he sold it, or couldnt find the case for it and grabbed the later D-30 case. :? (Anyone want to trade cases? )

Now for the big bonus. The original 6-on a plate tuners were included. The tuners that had been put on to turn it into a 6-string are Waverlys! :D

It didn't have the other 6 bridge pins, but I have some on hand that will hopefully fit and match.

I'll post pics when I get the re-conversion done. A happy Guilder so far.

Well we have had a TRC mounted backwards, but it was black on the back.

I just switched it right side up, and it was, indeed, white on the back. I think we have to, once again, give props to Hans. Question him at your peril!

Here's some pics of the F-112 in its current 6 string setup.

You can see in that last shot, that its in a D-30 sized case; not ideal, but serviceable.
