Pudding versus pudding:
Nora and I vacationed in Ireland some years ago. In Dublin we had a lovely dinner and were thinking of ordering dessert.
I asked the waiter about the pudding I’d seen listed on the menu, picturing something rich and chocolate-y with real homemade whipped cream.
He said, “The pudding’s made with blood.” (Pronounced: “Th’ puddin’s made wi’ blud.”)
We ordered coffee.
