@cupric I have done that also, biggest downside to that is it is a PAIN to drill the soft plastic of the soapdish

As I said above, for me jury is still out on the D'Addario system, I have mostly Oasis...and a couple of the soap dishes.

All that said, here in New England, we usually do not have to start thinking about humidity until "heating season." I was getting
alarms today from my D'Addario hygrometers that it was TOO humid...thanks Ian 🙁
Yeah, drilling is a pain. A soldering iron or wood burning tool works very nice.

LTG I didn’t forget about you! I will have pics tomorrow for you all! I strummed it very little once I got it home tonight and I can’t wait to play it tomorrow!! Bad news is the pickup was smashed. So I’ll have to deal with that later. Good news is the neck was fine and the original bridge was reglued and a setup was done to it… and that’s it. $130 repair. D30 In pretty good shape for under $800. Gonna play it until my fingers can’t take it tomorrow.

This thing is so pretty. Love the sound. Has a slight buzz that I’ll have to get rid of but very excited to have found it!!

I’m about to do a deep dive into pickups. I know nothing about them. I only know I need a 1/8 inch flat under saddle pick up. I’d imagine it’s mostly preference. If anyone has a recommendation that they’ve been in love with I’d be grateful. I plan on doing some YouTubing tonight for sure!

I'm a bit of an LR Baggs guy. I have the Anthem SL in my Martin 000-17SM and quite like it, along with an M80, and M80 Active, and I like them too. Funneled through the Para Acoustic DI, it just sweetens the pot. The DI is even great with the Realist pickup in my upright bass.

Buzzy welcome and I am late to the party. Congrats on a beautiful D-30!!! I owned one from 2013 - 2018 and I miss the hell out of it. I sold it in a desperate situation. I know the guy to whom I sold it and I have tried to buy it back three times over the last couple of years. If he had said yes, I wouldn't have the DCE3 in my stable which is essentially a D-30 with cutaway and ebony bridge / fretboard.

Mine was antique burst and weighed 14,378 pounds. Those have such a nice tone and presence for being so robustly built.
Enjoy!

When I electrified my G7 was when I joined this forum specifically to ask about what to get. I purchased the K&K Pure Western Mini, which was the most recommended pup here on this board and had my Luthier, also recommended here, install it for me. Works great. Sounds great. Sometimes needs some EQ and it's good to get a preamp to handle that and boost your signal when needed.

I installed a Baggs Anthem in my newest guitar a few months back. Piece of cake. The Anthem actually has two sound sources, an undersaddle and an internal mic. You can blend the sounds via the preamp. I like the mic sound much better than I do the piezo. If you've already got an endpin jack, it should be pretty simple as a 1/2" endpin hole is required, and you may already have that, otherwise you can enlarge the hole you've already got at the endpin jack, if required. The only other hole required is for the undersaddle, and it goes in the very corner of the saddle slot and is about 1/16", on bass end corner of the slot. That's pretty much it, and following instructions. Everything else has adhesive on it......battery pouch, internal mic, and wire clamps.......all adhesive.

I love those D30s.

Maybe it's just the camera angle, but the two headstock photos look like they're from two different guitars. One flares and one narrows.

If you're learning about pickups, be sure to get to know K&K and JJB, two terrific outfits. I have one JJB and three K&Ks, and I get good sounds out of all of them.

It’s just bad photography lol. Same guitar. Thank you for the recommendations. I’ll be sure to look into both!

West, thank you for the explanation. This sounds perfect. A little pricey, but it’s definitely in the running!!

Baggs also makes a "Lyric" I think it's called. It just has the mic, and it's a bit cheaper. And Charlie up there made a good recommendation on the K&K, but I've never installed one. And you're very welcome.

Hey all, new here. I have this D-30 that I may be buying. Wanted to get a little info on it. I’ll post some pics as well. The thing is a beaut. I gotta take it somewhere to make sure it’s not gonna need crazy repairs. The electronics aren’t working. And the bridge looks to be coming up. Any info you guys have for me would be greatly appreciated. I’ve read many good things of the D-30 in these forums, so when I found this one I was super excited!
Shoot it to me straight!!! Thanks!

i just noticed these pictures are very good.
Serial number AD300940
Very nice pictures and guitar

charlie, I’ve looked into both k&k and JJB. What I am seeing, the only downfall is you have no control if plugging in to a house system.. ala open mic. That’s really where I am at in my journey. Open mics here and there and hopefully some bar gigs… only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger here
