I'll just be happy if they can build a guitar equivalent to the Tacoma D-50!

Also I'd love to see some new Starfires :D

Acoustic 6-string: natural finished 17" jumbo w/ premium mahogany (or sapele) b/s, Sitka top, abalone trim and an abalone/paua shell/fossil walrus ivory/silver/turquoise inlay of sea-serpents entwined in coitus on the fingerboard, fossil walrus ivory nut and saddle, Venetian (rounded) cutaway w/o electronics.

Acoustic 12-strring: exactly like above.

Electric 6-string: Natural finished single Venetian cutaway Starfire w/ Bigsby vibrola, gold-plated parts. Same inlays and trim as the acoustics.

Electric 12-string: As above, except a "harp" tail-piece in place of the Bigsby.

Okay, I'd want an F40 with rosewood back and sides, with a 50's styled headstock, ànd a first year F-47 "bluegrass model" pickguard!

Yeah, well, I was skeptical of the Tacoma move too, until I played some D-50's

Let's hope we're all pleasantly surprised by the new models

Story of my life. But thanks!

Well, If I REALLY had to save my life, and posting pics would accomplish that, I guess I would set myself to do it!

Here's a tip:
I made those videos simply with a Canon PowerShot SD600 digital camera. Set it on video of course, but positioned a small mirror behind the camera, so I could see what the viewfinder is seeing.
Then, I play, keeping the soundhole of the guitar as close as I can to the camera's microphone in order to get the full timbre of the guitar. Too often I see videos of guitarists showing off their stuff and they show the full picture - musician and instrument. This looks nice, but because the camera's microphone is so far away from the source (the guitar), it sounds hollow, and boomy.

It is so simple; try it. Okay, you don't see the face, but what is important is to get the best sound possible out of your guitar, and it pays off. Very low tech . . .

And I will learn how to post pics someday. YouTube videos will suffice for now.

Thanks again for your comments, guys.

And have a very happy new year to you all. Let's hope 2009 is a lot better than 2008!

I'd like a spruce top with arched mahogany back.
Oh, I already have one! How about arched Maple or Pearwood, then?

That it is, Darryl. Hey, maybe we'll get enough of a quorum on that to get Guild to do a reissue. :) Yeah, right.

Bring back the F-312, and add a cutaway. Spruce top, rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, all the bling. (page 128 of The Guild Guitar Book). It also has the smaller, more elegant body shape, the same as the current F-40.

So with the F-40, they have the fixture, or rather the form for it. Just got to add a 12-string neck and bracing to it.

Guild never made this model with a cutaway, only the F-212C in 1976. 'm just saying it would be nice to have one made.

(There he goes again with the cutaways. You know, Tommy Tedesco, a very famous studio guitar player from L.A. said once there is not much money past the 5th fret. Who says I am making much money . . .? :) )
