Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

I'm trying to remember where the Petrified Forest was in relation to Santa Fe... I remember driving through that area years ago, and that was worth a trip if it's not too far.

Have fun, Scratchy!

Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

Great tips, guys! The Clovis trip (Cannon AFB) will be a one-dayer sandwiched between two travel days. I hope to have more time in July and take in some of the sites you all mentioned. Our Granddaughter, Maddie, leaves to spend two weeks with her other Grandma and Grandpa in Cloudcroft, NM, shortly after I return from Clovis. They sold their home in San Antonio 18 months ago and moved to a 850 SF cabin in the mountains. Gorgeous piece of property with knock-yer-socks-off views... Night sky views in those mountains are beyond an artist's ability to portray...

Mrs. West and I drove up through Amarillo, but back from Santa Fe through Clovis Kenny, then took 84 through Lubbock. We stopped and ate at a diner in Clovis. Not much happening on that road but a bunch of farming east of Clovis as I recall. (Hand over my heart) But you do get to pass through Littlefield, home of Waylon Jennings.

While in Clovis, you'll have to eat! Juanito's Chile Rellenos (made the right way; with Anaheims) are pretty amazing with a Corona or two.

Being an El Paso boy, spent lots of time in Cloudcroft and Ruidoso flying gliders; both just terrific places to appreciate the tall pines, aspens. high desert and the apple festival. My first 100 mile flight was off Dry Canyon in Alamogordo to Belen. I really miss the desert sunsets out there...
Have a great trip!

Do you get the F40 this morning?

Great tip, Russ. I'll swing in there Wednesday evening after checking in. I'll probably fly into El Paso next month and rent a car for the Albuquerque, Alamagordo and White Sands visits... F40 arrives at my office in Universal City on Thursday, so I won't get to see or play it until the 29th at the earliest, dang it...

Forgot all about Waylon's hometown, West! Something to look forward to... From here to Sweetwater, it's rather scenic. Lots of Wind Farms our there kinda booger up the scenic views, but I do get to drive through Llano; one of my favorite Texas towns, and I'll probably stop there for lunch.

One of the other members here is, or was a glider pilot Russ.....maybe Hoboken. Sure sounds like fun. Makes me think of John Denver.

That drive up 16 to Llano is incredible Kenny. You still need to stop by Trois Estate with the little woman. You too Russ......with your little woman, not Kenny's.

Ahh....we miss you, the misses, and Ninfa's Kenny. And Lord knows how we love the Fredericksburg area, but not his year......just too much to do here. We still don't have the dogs moved out here yet. Getting ready to have a fence built, gotta move the kennel. I can't leave this grass for a minute right now, and we've still got to do flowerbeds, still got boxes all over the house.....just aren't enough hours. We will make it down there next year though. When you commin' up this way?

Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

Probably October, West... Summer travel schedule has me moving around quite a bit this year to areas west and north of here. July, August and September have me in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Northern Illinois, Arizona, and Nebraska. Little Rock is in the summer 2010 schedule so I'll definitely stop by on that trip...

Better get it while it lasts! I've got 10 years before I can draw it.......won't be a penny left. If I'm lucky......it will be very reduced. What the heck, I will have only been paying in for 40 years.....the maximum for several.

I hear some folks say that you draw far more than you've contributed.....they ain't adding 40 years of compounded interest we'd have had had it been invested.

Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

Got a UPS notice stating the F40 was delivered to my office this morning. And here I am in Clovis NM! I'll have to wait until next Tuesday to see and hopefully appreciate that one...

Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

Thanks West. Just pulled in the driveway after a nice nine hour drive home. First priorities first: 1. Check LTG; 2. unpack bags... :)

Re: Seeking F40 Valencia Info

Finally came back to work today and the F40 Valencia was here waiting.... It is a 2007 Tacoma built; absolutely gorgeous with an Iced Tea Burst which has been discontinued and thus the mark down at $1199.00. The eBay seller is an authorized Guild dealer; this guitar has full Fender Warranty. I'm more than happy; red spruce top is striking to say the least. No residual glue; neck is great... Love the folk (grand orchestra) body... Absolutely beautiful... Ahhhh Yesssss! Very refreshing experience after the CV1 debacle...

There's an identical F40 ITB on eBay now priced at 2,025.00. Gonna be hard to keep my mind on work today. I'll get some pics posted later.
