I may be heading over to Macabe's this weekend to check out the M-20.

The Sunburst looks amazing in pics.

I was primarily looking for a traditionally folky/finger picky guitar, and I have been listening to a lot of 0-15, 00, and 000-15 Martins on YouTube. Though even in person Martins have always sounded a bit too warm and "crowded" for my taste, but the M-20 and M-120 have a more distinct sound. Actually the mid-century Martin 0-15's are pretty good, but a bit too much $$ or have a bit too much wear going on.

I initially stumbled on here and Guilds because of the Nick Drake (or not) connection, and regardless of him using this model, it seems that the M-120 is a good bang for the buck. If the M-20 is a "better" M-120 and cheaper than a comparable Martin then I might come home with a new guitar this weekend. ha.

as i posted in another thread, do not wait too long to buy that guitar- especially if you are local to it! you will be lucky if no one buys it before you.

So happy for CMG and for Guild that the US acoustics are starting to see the light of day. The first D55s and F512s cannot be too far behind, 6-9 months I bet. Good times!

I'd tend to agree with that but then I started wondering what their capacity is and whether they'll need to keep making M20's and D20's to keep up with demand.
I could understand if they opted to build to demand before bringing out the higher-end guitars, it'd be kind of like guaranteed quick payback on overhead.
But yeah in particular I'd like to see them F55's ship.

I'm in agreement, Al. It's taken this long to tool up for these two models and if the demand is high, why stop producing what's making money? Although, I think the next ones will not be so difficult. Wonder how they're doing on spraying nitro? I doubt many people are gonna want a satin, dull-looking D55. They can get away with that on the mahogany, because that's kind of the style right now with most makers. But those high end ones are gonna need some SHINE!!!

That's CMG's doing. I'd like to see one of these cases.

Here is a couple of Photos of the Humidified case that comes with the D20 from the Chicago Music Exchange listing on Reverb. I wish they had a fourth latch on the neck side of the handle just to be safe. Hope this helps!

Is there no latch on the lower bass side? I am either seeing the tongue of the latch in the photo, or they inserted the end pin in the D-20 already.

The cases on my Huss & Daltons have six latches. They take what seems like forever to open. Click, click, click, click, click, click. Always seem to miss one, or leave the clasp engaged.

Yeah. My Santa Cruz case is a monster. I preferred my beat to hell D25 case. Still, that is a good case for a bottom tier brand new US Guild. I would not be complaining at all.

I think you might be right, Neal. 4 latches is good with me. I have a case with only three in front (total) and that's not enough.

the case may even have 5 latches, no? (technically even 6 possibly?). just looking at those 2 photos in this thread. it really does not show the bass side. even where the literature/card is standing up in the neck area of the case could be blocking a latch. and good eye Neal, i agree that is latch #4 you spotted.

I'm sure the case has another latch on the bottom bout that is away from the camera making at least four in total. I was saying I would have preferred if they would have put an extra latch next to the handle on the side of the case that is showing at the beginning of the neck area. That always seems to be a spot that needs reinforcement with the pulling on the handle and everything. Just an observation but they do look like nice cases. I like the interior color and material appearance, Way better than the stock Orpheum Cases that shipped from New Hartford but that is another story.:highly_amused:
