All,

I thought I should provide an update on this thread. I've been quiet on the board due to an intensified search for a job. Well that finally paid off and I received a verbal offer today. I expect to start my new job with one of the top global consulting firms sometime in the New Year.

I want to thank all of you who provided your thoughts and well wishes when I first posted this back in June of this year. It's been a short, and long 6 months. I must say I sure enjoyed the first three or four, but during the last two months as winter set in here in Canada it was getting kinda depressing. I think at times we have perhaps too much of our self worth tied up in a job - but it's kinda how the world turns. I hopefully learned some during this past few months that will serve me in the future.

Despite the job situation, I sure had a lot of fun buying and selling a few (too many) guitars. But that's a story for another day.

Once again thanks to everyone who provided support on this post - ya'll have a great Christmas. I will have something a little extra to celebrate this year I think. To those on the forum that may be searching - the economy seems to be turning and I sincerely hope it turns your way.

Tim

Glad to hear it. Having once worked for a "top consulting firm" I guess I should dust off some of my consultant jokes...

Just remember, there is no known record of someone on their death bed wishing they had spent more time in the office.

Perspective is always helpful.

You know, fashion comes and goes with time. Tunes I think it is time for you to set a new fashion trend at the consulting firm. Don't be timid, do it your first day!

On a more serious note, a hardy congrats on your new job. Time to buy more guitars.

Nope - it's PriceWaterhouseCoopers - PWC for short.

Hi Tim; I was working for Coopers & Lybrand at the time of the merger and for the merged firm into the early 2000s. Our group's motto:

"If you can't be part of the solution, there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem"

... only kidding ... mostly  Congratulations.

Bwahahaha!! That's such a great motto for 2009. Let's hope there are some more optimistic (and less truthfully wry) mottos coming for 2010.

FYI, I think PWC audits my company's financial reports.

Yep - PWC does Assurance (Audit), Tax and Advisory services worldwide. I'll be doing Advisory services in the Fed government space. Kinda looking forward to work after a 6 month hiatus.

Thanks again for all the well wishes everyone. Now I can think about replentishing my guitar stock.
