It took a while for me to dig out this image and I didn't want it to get lost in Mug Shots. It's all about sharing.

Captured in mid "flight" in northern Puget Sound, about 15 nautical miles from my backdoor.

Enjoy,

Awesome photos, guys!! :D

Did any of you happen to catch the TV show where for the first time ever they documented an Orca attacking and killing a great white shark. It was on Discovery, or National Geographic, or something like that.

Fascinating stuff. They talked about the different groups of Orcas around the world, with only about 5 or 6 groups total as I recall, and how each group has different social traits and hunting skills. Apparently, some of them learned that if you turn a shark on its back, i.e. upside down, it becomes paralyzed. So the Orka surprise atacks a shark from below, rams it to turn it over, then grabs it in its mouth to hold it upside down until it drowns. The shark can't fight back at all.

Pretty impressive, Carl! My .45 Long Colt would be much more humane. Anyone had grilled shark patties? mmmmm; better than chicken...

With a bit of luck the stinkin' f#*kers have had a 15" US Navy-surplus shell right in the guts, and are floundering around in the water, dying as we speak !!
The whales or the Japanese whalers? :?

Joe

I think he's referring to the whalers. There's been a bit of flak here when they rammed a protest vessel. Problem is the NZ Navy can't afford an Ex US Navy surplus 15" shell, let along the gun to fire it. Maybe we could throw my wife's scones at them....
