I love the tone from my Guild 8 string baritone.
It surprises me that I don't see more members here playing one of these guitars.
It is the lack of interest in baritone guitars in general?

I have settled in on tuning mine D to D and using medium gauge strings for now.
This combination gives me the lower tone that I'm looking for and the playability of a 6 string, with the sound of a 12 string.

This guitar amazes me!

Any other owners out there yet?

good to know! I like the bottom tones as well. I am just not spending money on guitars anymore.

I have one, don't play it as much as I should. It could use a setup, so maybe I'll play it more. I bought it in part because my voice has lost some of it's high end and might try using same arrangements on it to see if it works. Also have had a medical interruption to any playing this year.

As some of you know, I had to send back 2 of these baritone guitars to Guild due to bridge problems.
So far, this one has had no issues.
Tuning the baritone D to D has worked out very well.
If I could buy heavy gauge Treated strings, I would drop it down to C# to C# and be very happy.
B to B tuning is a bit muddy and floppy for my taste.

I read all your postings about the guitar, and finally got to play one at the Manchester Music Mill in Manchester, NH, a few months ago, and was impressed!

I had my eye on something else at the time however, and it sold in the meantime, but that guitar (like a number of others!) is "on my radar."

I've been debating one as well, though have yet to find one in the wild to actually play. I have the 6-string version (BT-240) already and, though it is fun, I'm thinking that the two extra strings might brighten it up significantly.

I like the idea of an 8-string bari, but I prefer the dreadnaught format. I find they project better and aren't "tubby" sounding. I had a really great Larrivee BT-03 12-fret baritone that I used in a small acoustic group. If guild did a 6 or 8-string archback bari, I'd be all over it.

Aren't both the BT-240e and BT-258e archbacks?

Yes, The Guild Baritone has an arched back but it is a Jumbo body.
I play with a strap when sitting, so the size doesn't make a difference for me.
The larger body of the Jumbo Baritone adds to the sound of the guitar.

Interesting, mine has a flat back. When was yours made? Mine is from 2022.

If I see one I’ll try it . There’s 2 models from what I see available . The BT-258E and the BT-240E . Being a solid wood snob I feel I won’t like these but never say never .lol

I agree that an all solid wood guitar is always my first choice.
However, Guild has been producing arched back/ laminated guitars for many years.
They do it right.

I have an entry level Alvarez ABT-60 baritone guitar - I would love a Guild baritone ... but not an 8-string version ... 6 is enough.
