Last Friday was a special day indeed. The UPS delivery brought me a nice 1996 F-65CE all the way from Myrtle Beach, SC to sunny Tucson. I couldn't resist buying this guitar: The seller's price was ridiculously low and I had major GAS going for this model. The seller described the condition as excellent, with little actual playing and a lot of case time. I bought it without any close inspection. Well, the price was right but there were some condition issues.

Lacquer crazing on front and sides. :(

A crack in the top running to the bridge. Fortunately it's not going any where thanks to the bracing.

Not much saddle left here. Probably going to need a neck reset at some point.

I cleaned and polished, put on some new strings, and, THIS GUITAR PLAYS GREAT!!!

Now I know why folks like this guitar. Unplugged and the tone is full and rich. Plugged in and anything is possible. I am going to have a lot of fun with this, trust me.

Here's a shot in the case with the rest of the herd. 8) When I get the JF-30 back from the luthier I'm going to take a picture of my 4 blondes together. It's gonna be hot!

Don't know if you're thinking of what strings to use but 10-47's (D'Addario) work for me. Great shots.

First off: Congratulations. The greatest guitar I've ever owned or played - also had a crack from the sound-hole to the bridge. So welcome to the club. Mine was beautifully repaired. My luthier thinks Guild used very thin tops on some models- notably my 97 F65ce and 88 D60. My cracked F65ce has more tone than my uncracked 2000 model. But I'll bet the top is thinner, ergo the crack.

There is nothing like it on the market today, to my knowledge.
In fact, I don't think there has ever been a guitar quite like the F65ce.
If there is, I'd like to know what it is. (Question for the audience?)

Sorry for the scratches on the back.

BTW, I use .11's on both of mine.

And who cares? If the saddle is low, the neck angle is true & you love the guitar,
have a luthier sand the bridge. What difference does it make if it's a keeper?
