Thanks to Marc Ellis, I am now the very happy owner of this gorgeous blue F65-CE! As many of you undoubtedly know, Marc lives in Vietnam and I don't, so the scariest part of this transaction was the shipping from there to here. I had awful visions of the guitar sitting on a snowy (or boiling) tarmac somewhere in Outer Mongolia, or customs agents digging a giant divot in the fingerboard looking for white abalone. Thankfully, none of those nightmares came to pass. The guitar arrived in record time, sat in my dining room for about 5 hours while it decompressed, and when I opened the case I saw with relief that it had weathered the time and temperature zones flawlessly.

The guitar is in excellent condition, appearing to have had little wear and tear. The body & tuners needed cleaning, so my luthier husband and I took off the strings and the tuners, cleaned the tuners with naptha and some nubbly paper towels, and then Chris changed out the plastic bridge pins for bone ones with lovely blue paua eyes. (This required only a tiny bit of reaming out the bridge pin holes.)

With a new set of strings, she sounds awesome! My good Marshall amp is not here right now, so I can't test the electronics with anything but a dinky little practice amp, but they work well as far as I can tell.

Here are some photos (sorry, taken with iPhone) of the work in progress:

Many, many thanks again to Marc for selling me this beautiful instrument!

And just in time for your New Years gig!

YES! I am totally psyched!!! My good Marshall amp is at my rehearsal space, so I won't get to hear her really sing until tomorrow afternoon, but I am very much looking forward to playing this on the 31st. Have fun at YOUR gig!

A beautiful guitar, and a Guild to boot!!
Congrats on both ends for another splendid in-house transaction! Love it.

Great photo spread, too, by the way. No need to apologize for iPhone photos....these are super.

Rejoice, as you ring in the New Year! :D

Barbara, I've been in love with that particular guitar since I joined this forum. It's just a startlingly beautiful guitar. The color, the model.... everything about it. I hope you enjoy it and it's good to see you giving it the care and attention it deserves. I'm glad it found an appreciative home!! CONGRATS!!!

I wish we had a gig! :( Although, it looks like the band is going to get together with their significant others and have an acoustic jam, party game and dessert party.

By the way. I was remiss in complimenting you on your fine photos of the guitar cleaning.

I have an update on this great instrument: I played it today at rehearsal amplified through a very nice acoustic amp (made by Marshall) and I was BLOWN AWAY by the sound. WOW!! Coming from an acoustic background, I never really paid much attention to the way an acoustic-electric sounds plugged in - to me, playing in a band, the sound just becomes background texture. But this guitar changes the entire game now. So I really learned something new today. Marc, thanks again!

Adorshki and Marc have been buzzing about that model for a long while now. Singing it praises and virtues. Now we further can see why. :D
Beautiful Guild for sure! Happy New year! 8)

Very nicely done! While I gave up my recently purchased F65-CE in favor of a JF65-E, I will certainly own one of these beauties again one day. Enjoy your new Guild!

Way to go, Barbara! After seeing the pictures I'd say this F-65 is in much better condition than the one I snatched out from under you in Myrtle Beach. Congratulations! :D

I really like this guitar plugged in. I play through a highly modified Fender Blues Jr. with a little extra reverb and it sounds great.

Happy New Year indeed!

Awesome! I had my jeans custom-made by a woman on eBay who offered a choice of hippie patterns for the inserts. (If I pick up a sewing needle, I put my eye out.) Luckily she had these great "flower power" patterns. I also have my original "granny glasses" from 1970 and an Indian cotton gauze shirt with embroidery and little mirrors from 1970 or 1971. Close enough.

When did you do that "Summer of Love" gig?
