That cedar top looks gorgeous. Is that basically a more modern F30 with a cedar top?
Congrats Mikey!

I think you’d dig one of these Wes. To me it’s kind of like a forerunner of the New Hartford F30 Standard, but with a cedar top. Pretty light and lightly braced. I’ll post some measurements and see if I can get some inside pics of the bracing tomorrow.

I bet it’s a fingerpicking gem of a guitar.

Plus 1 for that rich looking cedar. I love cedar tops and that one has killer grain. That is a great looking guitar, Mikey! Congrats!

I have not looked at them but I think some Guild classical nylon string guitars also used cedar/mahogany.
Yes, and there was also a limited run of DV-6's from '97 IIRC, like 20 or less I think it was, maybe even as few as 6? I recall 2 members picking one up over the years. So very uncommon for 'em, even including those Contemporaries.

Yes, lit even says they're based on it. Tacoma '07 catalog IIRC. ;)

Unless more than two cedar-top DV6s are owned by LTGers, I believe both known examples are in Massachusetts.

Apparently I have one. I didn't know it till the owner of the second one informed me, based on the seral number. (Spolier alert: Hans would only say that there was something special about the guitar, but that he was saving details for Vol 2.)

Mine was made by one of the Guild craftspeople as a gift for his son, who never took to the guitar. It sat unotouched for a couple decades till I bought it from him.

It was made without a label or pickguard, and is about as close to mint as you can get on a guitar that isn't brand new. It even appeared to have the original strings on it when I got it.

Ah think you might be in for a little surprise, if you've forgotten those are braced with the neck-block-and-"spider" tone bars.

That was the defining characteristic of the Contemporary Series. ;)

From all reports they sound great in spite of the sometimes problematic neck joint.

I think it was the Tacoma F30 Aragon (had an Adi top) that presaged the NH's. ;)

Mine has no label, so I can't photograph it for comparison.

It's such a light complexioned cedar that I didn't recognize it as such.

Congratulations! That's a beauty! I have a couple of CVs, and would love to pick up a CO to round out the group... one with a cedar top would be a plus.

Which CV’s do you have? I would love to find a good CV2 some day.
