Ray was right, these are great guitars!

It arrived yesterday, I opened it today and gave her a spin. I like it.

It has a nice warm tone with good clarity, sustain and bass end. It is responsive to a light touch with comparable volume to an F30 series.

The neck width is comfortable, action good, angle looks good, but I will have to take measurements later.

No undisclosed issues, and it was packed very well. My kind of seller. Plainish looking like a NH Standard but quality materials. The cedar top is delicious.

This one is a MIRC and marked USED on the back. The only thing wrong I can see is a rough spot the size of a nickel on the lower back of the neck. No big deal at all. The neck is flat and intonation fine.

She is a keeper.

Nice one, congrats!! Cedar tops sound great and don't really need any break-in period, but I have to recalibrate my playing approach since they respond better to a lighter touch.

It looks great. Glad to hear you have a keeper. I have 2 MIRC Guilds that play great. Hope you got the hardshell case with it. I love my contemporary CV-1C.

Thanks TomO. I have been very gun shy on this entire series after reading about the neck issues. But then I read posts by Ray, you, JohnW63 and a few others that changed my mind. The key is asking questions. After contacting the seller, I felt this was likely a good one, even though it is a MIRC. Glad I took the chance.

I do like the grain on the top and the neck. They are a nice tone change from basic spruce and I find mine easy to play.

Looks like a very nice guitar, but because I've never knowingly either played or heard a Cedar-topped instrument, I am curious to know both how they sound and how they taste, as "delicious" is such a vague term to describe the flavour of the top wood.

Slightly sweet with a salty after taste, not unlike a salted caramel.

As for the sound, it is warm with a really nice low end, somewhat like my rosewood guitars. However the mahogany b/s seems to keep it in check, a little crisper, as it doesn’t have the same type of overtones.

I have not played another cedar but did hear a guitarist in a nice restaurant years ago playing a cedar/walnut Bourgeois that sounded amazing. However, that guitar was megabucks.

I have not looked at them but I think some Guild classical nylon string guitars also used cedar/mahogany.

Seagull uses cedar. I tried a few at Guitar Center some years back. They sounded good. My guitar teacher described them saying it's like they are trying to sing.

My guitars all try to sing when I play them, but have no trouble doing it when other people play them. I can't figure it out.

That cedar top looks gorgeous. Is that basically a more modern F30 with a cedar top?
Congrats Mikey!
