Welcome to the maelstrom Sarah, from Newsyland.

There's lots of great company to enjoy here, and a wealth of knowledge to tap in to. And a fair bit of silliness ........ I'm surprised Graham and JerryR haven't stopped by already !!

Enjoy.
They're waiting for one of us to offend the fair maiden, hoping to arrive in chivalrous fashion.

Hey Default, thanks for correcting that little error in the previous post. Actually, I was 25 years old before I learned that damn yankee is actually two words.

Can someone tell me how to make an avator that I can upload? I keep creating images that are below 20KB but it still won't upload them. I've tried jpeg, tiff, bmp, to no avail. Any suggestions?

thanks yaw,
Sarah

CJ, those are very nice pictures! I don’t know what hideglue is but your workout is definitely doing the trick!
Hi Sarah; thank you, they were all fine boats. Hideglue is both the glue used traditionally by luthiers and the screenname of one our BB members. After my first record goes gold, I'll be touring as a (geezer) hunk Italian model. Ciao! CJ

Sarah,

Welcome aboard!

How do you like the GAD? I A/B'd the 12-string version of that JF-30 against it's American progenitor and I thought the GAD was very nice. In any case, I thought it was head and shoulders above the other brands' 12s that were in the shop that day.

Again, welcome, and enjoy!

For the avatar picture, I believe I used Microsoft picture editor to downsize it to the necessary dimensions. Some bulletin boards do that for you automatically, but I guess LTG doesn't. If I recall, you're restricted to 100 pixels in either dimension -- I think anyp icture editor can save a picture out that way for you.

Hey Sarah,

FYI: King Biscuit was a company that sponsored a popular live blues radio show broadcast from Helena, Arkansas. Blues great Sonny Boy Williamson II was one of the original founding players. There was also a different radio rock show from the early 70s until a few years ago called the King Biscuit Flower Hour. It started off as a little play on words and sort of a tribute to the old blues show. Anyways, a blues Festival was started in the mid-80s in Helena to honor the history. It's now called the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival.

If you start an account with an online photo sharing website, many have online image editors that enable you to easily size photos according to pixel. Many of us here use photobucket. It also allows you to post pics to online forums and make avatars. It's pretty intuitive. There's a lot of info on how to do this on the forum if you search the threads.

Thank you coastie. Is that a silver lame suit you're wearing?

Oh no no ! Made of far more exotic material, in a galaxy far, far away. I wear it when I'm on duty on the mother ship.

I have a Glad oven foil replica that I sometimes wear in day-to-day life. Or I might wear my bubble-wrap suit. The kind with the big bubbles. More bang for the buck !

I have a great line ...... "Baby, burst my bubbles !" Irresistible !!

But I'm mostly a spandex and paisley kind of bloke.

Hi Chazmo, thank you for the welcome. I love my GAD. It has a wonderful sound and awesome volume. It never goes out of tune either. I played a lot of guitars before I bought this one. Actually, I bout a Dean acoustic/electric first and after taking it home for two weeks I called the and told the man I was not very happy with it. He said he figured I’d be calling soon and allowed me to put all of that money toward something else. After playing over a dozen guitars, including two Martins, I chose the GAD. I am so glad that I did.

Hi jp. I’m not familiar with King Biscuit. But, there is a restaurant in Jonesboro that is quite fun. As the waitress approaches your table she throws biscuits at everyone. It’s a lot of fun.

Hi Coastie, I wish you a lot of luck on the “bubbles” line! Actually, I thought the suit gave you a little “Elvis” flare. The paisley spandex makes me a little nervous though!

What a refreshing change. Most of the places I go the waitresses only throw biscuits at me.

Hey Sarah, Welcome! I believe they bill the resturaunt your talking about as "The Home Of Throwed Rolls" I've driven by there many times (when I used to travel for a living) and hear quite a bit about it, but never ate there. We don't have "Throwed Rolls" in Minnesota!
Keep working on that Avatar, it took me awhile too but finally got a teeeny one to post.

Yay! I figured out the avatar thing. Thanks Coastie for the help. I'll replace it with something cool when I think of it. Yes Curt, I think that is the same restaurant. I still have family in the Jonesboro area and we go there once in a while.

On a different note. I am very interested in locating a guitar with a great Rockabilly sound. I've been reading, based on suggestions from the forum, about the Starfire III and the X 160. I'm guessing that some of you likely either own or have played these guitars. Any first hand knowledge, impressions, etc will be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Sarah
