That's exactly what I meant. A lot of people would want a second pickup and/or a cutaway, and the oldschool swing player who's into single coil hollowbodies would probably have preferred a deep body X50 version.
Seems like the T50 has never been a model made in large numbers, probably because as you’re saying it’s an instrument that’s not for everyone. From a my point of view I think they have an appeal to a singer-songwriter as a good rhythm instrument for fronting a band or even solo performance, it has a nice visual “pop” but also elegant and simple. Slim profile is comfortable and good for travel, and one pickup can be good for the “plug in and go” approach.

Just a few current players who use a T-50, but all not typical Dynasonic players...

Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear:

Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers: (he also plays a X-50)

Matt Corby:

Gary Clark Jr.: He might play one but I only found a picture with a X-50:

Dunno, still think its an extremely limited market. You're basically looking for someone that's looking to pose with a style of guitar, rather than play one that's useful. In essence, Guild have reissued a beginner's guitar, with limited fret access and limited sonic range. At $1200 street (is that correct?) you're probably better off buying a vintage Gretsch Clipper for less money.

While having a cutaway is common, a nod to past designs can be intriguing. Charlie Christian, et al…
I like old Morgan Plus Fours for the same reason.
Coming up as a poor jazz student, old used ES-125 models were more accessible than ES-175’s, and could be substituted for that sound.
These may seem like throwbacks, but sometimes I miss those hungry days. Nostalgia is fun.
If I needed one I could see buying one, just for the DynaSonic flavor.
Are there more logical choices? Sure. But that’s too left brain. Gimmee romance.

Interesting that there is a black pickup cover on the black one. I was thinking Guild traditionally used white covers - like the cherry model ?

Not that it matters.
My ‘60 T-100/SFI in cherry came stock with a black cover .

I wish someone made a good dearmond copy in modern times .

I have not come across one yet that sounds much different than , say, a P-90 or a Hilo tron .
And nowadays, real ones are like $500 😳

I know not everyone loves the TV Jones T'Armonds, but I don't think they sound anything like a P-90 or a Hilo. They may not have all the snarl of a vintage DeArmond, but they're in the ballpark, and they definitely sound a LOT better than what Walter properly refers to as the "reissues" that Guild is using now.

I think I'm going to try some of the Gabojo pickups in the next few weeks.
