Don't pay too much attention to us Geezers and our Martin jabs, Jan. We usually forget we said it within a couple of hours anyway! Welcome to LTG!!!

No kidding Jan, I've always said if I didn't own Guilds, I'd own Martins.

What's a Martin?

West

West,

The Martin Company was a famous maker of fishing reels.
Welcome, Jan. I'm sure you'll enjoy the posts. Besides my pretend Martin Guitar (Sigma Guitar) and Martin Backpacker Guitar, the only real Martin I own is an old C.F. Martin ukelele.

Jeff, thanks for the info on Martin fishing reels. I never knew they existed. Mohawk, NY is about 10 miles from my house. I'm always learning something when I log onto LTG.

Hi Jan,
Sausalito's very nice. Used to be in the Bay area too, once upon a long time ago.
Welcome to LTG!

Jeff, no problem. I'm old enough to know that if we wait long enough, most of everything we hear or learn is horse apples.

Hi Jan

Don´t pay that West no mind, nohow :!: Martin is a nice guitar - but a lot of them about. Now Guild, your gettin more exclusive

Sunning myself in Mexico for a couple a weeks then back to raisn and cold! No ´proper´acoustics here - all classical Spanish type.

Re: New Member old player!

Well..
Thank you all for the warm welcome!
Yes I am from and live in Sausalito,
(Darrell-are you that classical guitar playing friend/bro? )
I am so happy to be here.I missed my Guild m20 so much that when the opportunity came along to get another one I just couldn't resist.
I could probably buy that F20 Jeff, but I am enjoying the little one so much,I am going to stick with it for now-thanks for the invite to the small guitar group.
I think you would all be very surprised and delighted how many people in the UMGF also own Guilds. The quality of Guild guitars is hard to be surpassed.
I will try to get some pics up soon.
I look forward to seeing you all again!
Take care,
Jan

Re: New Member old player!

Hi all.
I just wanted to say I am really enjoying the forum.
I have met some really great people and the information is really helpful.
I haven't had a Guild since the 90's and this is reopening the Guild guitar world to me.
They are a really great American guitar-I think that is why so many people own at least one.
They also have a very distinctive sound-as does their Martin counterpart.
I didn't have as good luck with the 70's Gibson J45-yuck.That was really a bad decade!
So everyone play on and have a good one!
Jan :D

Re: New Member old player!

Hi Jan; glad your enjoying the BB; can range here from informative to chaotic ... most people able to find a comfortable spot on the dial somewhere. One of our other BBers, talking about 1960s Gibson 12ers said they didn't compare well to Guild 12ers from the era and maybe your J45 was in process in the 70s when the Gibson / Norlin / Heritage fiasco was happening. As a nurse, I'm sure you're aware that stress-induced acne, BO, and hair loss in workers can carry over into musical instruments giving them crappy tone, twisted necks, and playability issues....welcome!

Re: New Member old player!

CJ,
You got it!
Those people at Guild were definitely having problems!
Oh well-I learned my lesson there.
But I do like Epiphones though!
See ya,
Jan
