Hi Folks!
My name is Paul, and I am a guitar-a-holic. It started harmlessly enough when I purchased a "genuine CF Suzuki", while stationed in W. Berlin Germany, over 30 years ago. I was fine for a long time, really! Then about 13 years ago, I recieved a used Martin dred from my (then) wife for an anniversary present and it all started to slip away...! From Martin(s), I went on to the "hard stuff", Santa Cruz and Huss and Dalton, and not just one, no way...if one is that good why not 2, or 3!!! Oh and the Strat, that rarely leaves its case and the Kalamazoo Archtop, that I needed (I didn't have one) and... well I guess you folks understand?
I have been lurking here for a short time now after I was refered here by a fellow member of the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, where I had posted about a new (used) Guild 12 string I recently acquired. I've always had a kinfof love/hate relationship with 12 stringers, probably because the others I have owned were, shall we say, cheap. Anyway over the years I have come to understand that when it comes to 12 string guitars, the Guilds I would play, were always among the most pleasing, so when this Guild showed up on Craigslist I had to test the waters again.
So now my first question, the Guild I purchased is a 1992 D4-12E NT, it is a nice example, in almost "unplayed" condition, neck is good, no belly, bridge is tight, ample saddle left, all in all a very nice example and a good 12 string sound. Here is the first pic.
I tried to check the guild site to see if I could figure out what the "E" designates in the model number, and I assumed it had a pick-up, but there is none! Here is a pic of the interior label.
and another of the serial number.
So if it's not electric, is it a typo, or is there something else in the world of Guild guitars that I am missing? Thanks in advance for any info, I look forward to learning much about another storied, American guitar company here.
