Though ya'll might find this interesting. This was posted today on the AGF.

New Hartford Guilds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to let you guys know. i personally set the necks and built some of the bodies on the first 25 2 piece D-55 Guilds at the New hartford plant. A lot of people have been complaining about the moves that fender has been making with guild and others. Ive never heard a better Guild guitar in my life. i took on the chore because i was always a huge Guild fan and thought YAY! GUILDS IN CT! It may sound funny but I took a huge pay cut doing so. If you ever want the most exceptional sounding production made acoustic on the planet I suggest you buy a CT made guild!!! So many design changes and Mr. Le Barge KICKED the crap out of it. Wish I could spell his first name??? Sounds like MONE??? I will probably get in trouble for starting this thread but Im very proud of what they have done!!! They are made ing the New Hartford OVATION HAMER plant. Anyone who says anything bad about the Ovation employees I tend to get angry because they Build something most Luthiers know nothing about. Anyway im honored to have worked with all of them because those Guild guitars ARE awesome!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess there is one thing we can agree on - Guild guitars ARE awesome.

I don't like the sound of this. If it ain't broke, then it don't need fixing.
The Tacoma Guilds were awesome. No need to change anything.

nice.

hey, do you guys know what he means by "2 piece"?

I asked him that. He said they were spraying neck and body finish separately now. I'm tabbed over there right now, picking his brain. He went offline. Looked at some of his other posts, I don't know what to think. :?

As I've said all along, I have no doubt the New Hartford Guilds will hold their own with anything from the past.

I'm not changing my mind on that.

HOWEVER... they need to get rid of that new pickguard on the D-55!

The Tacoma era was not static. They changed many things in their scant three years of production. Even a monster change of how they truss the 12-strings, just a few months before closing down the shop! Compensated saddle, new pick guard, DTAR, strap pin on the side.

Anyway, more power to the New Hartford folks. Let 'em be a little creative; there's always room for improvement. Heck, they've already changed the tuning machines and the pickguards (for better or worse).

Me thinx the poster on AGF is a doofus!

I could be wrong.

I'd say you're half right. He's a doofus on meth.

While the above may be possible, It would appear that Kevin does make some interesting Guitars... His web site

Hard to believe it's the same person. Some kind of savant, who builds those guitars, yet can't construct a coherent sentence? Anything is possible.

And he get's up at 1:00 am to make the drive, knocks off at 5:00 pm and get's home around midnight. Grueling life it is, but in his never ending quest to build the perfect guitar, what's giving up a little sleep?

I fell asleep at the computer, woke up and read this. Laughed myself out of sleep mode.
