So what's on Newark St.?

Anybody have any insight/guesses on this?

That's the street the Hoboken factory was on.

That may have been the backdoor entrance but the Neumann Leather building was on Observer Highway.
But I must admit that the choice of Newark Street is a clever one! That's how they got in....... through the backdoor and now they act like they've always lived there!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Well the Hoboken Factory address was 300 Observer Highway which I knew, but upon further investigation I see that Newark St. (or Ave.?) ran behind the factory and it's probably how you got into the parking lot so I guess there is a connection there.

Well, I have to say that I actually really like the look of the Orpheum models! Especially the slop-shoulder dreads!

I can't help but think though, that they opted for the wrong sunburst shading. Guild have produced some of the nicest sunbursts out there and IMHO that ain't one of them.

Interesting. So are the radii of these reissues the same as the originals? I was surprised to see that a bunch of these guitars have a 9.45" radius. My 60s Starfires feel like they have flatter radii than that, though I've never measured them.

Measured my 66 SFV with a gauge from Stewmac at 10".

I think they were going for the "Roy Smeck" vintage Gibson look, and I'll agree that there's far better bursts out there, especially in Guild's quiver.

That being said, other than the blue marquetry, I like it!

8) You're right it does pretty much have the Roy Smeck look about it. Except for that blue.

Grot. Thanks for posting those Hobokin factory photos. I'm been meaning to have a look at that site myself via Google. Very nice to see that it's still there. Nice connectrion from Guild with the Newark St.

Just got THIS by email. If someone else posted it already, sorry (didn't read back through the whole thread).

I just received the Guild eNewsletter, too! Sorta funny that we've been posting about the new models for a few days! :D

I'm sure Ralf is a kid in a candy store today! We PM'd earlier and I think he was pretty excited about the show!

Man, I wish I could be there for this.

At this point in the festivities, I feel compelled to send a shout out to our Ovation and Hamer friends who are (hopefully) lurking a bit... I fear much of what we're seeing here for the 60th Guild anniversary comes at the expense of Ovation and Hamer products, and thus I can only wish that "it's worth it" to us and to Fender to see this resurgence of Guild in the wake of those brands that were the core of Kaman Music.

It might also be worth a tip of the cap to Tacoma as well. They paid the price back in the mid oughts, but you know what I mean.
