Well from what I've been hearing, you're not the only one that would like to see the Thunderbird reissued.

How would you all feel about it being manufactured in Korea?

I'd be fine with that, if it's done well. I have some very fine Korean guitars. 3 Agiles and a 90s Danelectro longhorn bass.

I figured I would post this question here as there are a lot of followers, including the powers that be.

I just put in a deposit on an American Patriarch X-500, and the rumor is that the basic specs can be tweaked slightly, including the color. I am not interested in changing any of the components, but I have thought about how it might look in transparent green, claret, or even a nice burst. Is the color negotiable, and if so would any of these three involve an extra charge?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

:) I don't see how any of us can answer those questions for you. Call Kim at the New Hartford facility and he'll give you the low-down on what can or can't be done.

According to Mr. Keller and Mr. Shaw there are no color options for the AP X-500 Stuart at this time.

That's a little odd, for a guitar they start building after you order. There goes one "if I win the lottery" phantasy. I think it would look spectacular in black.

Hmm...so much for the "Custom" shop idea. You'd think they could at least do sunburst.

I don't have any idea what is involved, if anything, in allowing color options. Blonde works for me as well, but those two X-700's with the claret finish caught my eye, as do all vintage Guilds with the transparent green finish.

That is kind of odd. I guess I'll never be able to have my purpleburst Aristocrat now!

When you talk "transparent green" I think you mean the original "Emerald Green" as used on the 60ies Maple Starfires for instance? I am not sure if there was a different color called "transparent green" later on during Fender times.

Ralf,

You are probably right. I got Transparent Green from a Guild publication somewhere, but it was more than likely a more modern Westerly or Fender source.

This isn't burst, but here's purple for you in a DeArmond M-75...

I'll second that motion, even though I'll blessed with a pair of vintage ones.

I'd take either one in a heart beat! Awesome pair of Guild goodness! The left one has everything I could wish for in a S100.
