I ordered a new Compton bridge for my Newark St. Starfire 111- I went with the copper one- and I must say, it's made a definite improvement in the sound. The guitar has better sustain, the notes are clean and clear, with a sweetness and warmth in the tone that was not there before! There is no sharp or brittle sounds, and the individual string and note separation is improved, as well. I'm pretty much a clean player with a lighter touch - mostly older country, some laid-back stuff, a little Texas swing...I don't use any pedals, just a slight bit of reverb on my Fender Twin. I'm using a fairly light set of strings - D'Addario EXL 110W - I really like that wound 3rd string! I'm really happy that I went with the copper bridge - it seems to complement my sound and playing style.☺
