Roadsters are great summer fun, enjoy yourself Zulu. Chaz will be along shortly.

Nah... winter fun! Miserable this time of year (down here).

Nice little car, zulu (unless you like to play golf). A lot of "bang for the buck" in the Miata.

Dave :D

Thanks guys. :D

I've never had a purely fun car like this. I'd forgotten that driving can be so enjoyable.

Won't be so much fun around here in the winter, but we've got a jeep for that.

Hehehe... Chaz is in the house... Not just summer, my friends... As Dave said (although his perspective of winter is much different :), I drive my S2000 year-round in Massachusetts. I don't drive it on the worst days, but it's pretty much my daily driver.

Zulu congrats on your Miata. Is this your first roadster? I was bit by the bug at an early age and have always had one. Tough for me to feel complete with out top-down motoring a good part of the time. :) Of course, everyone thinks I'm a nut job; who am I to argue. ;)

Thank you Chaz. Yes, this is my first roadster. I just get a big grin driving it. As far as bang for the buck, I'm really impressed by the handling and build quality at a low price.

They had an S2000 at a car lot we took a peek at it. That looks like a blast!

I'm a BIG Mazda fan. Had several first-generation RX-7s. If you ever get a chance drive one of those, try it. I wish they'd put a rotor motor in a Miata.
Otherwise take an RX-8 for a test, you'll get the idea.... :D

Looks like fun Zulu enjoy it between your Guild times~
A buddy of mine who is an airplane mechanic owned one of these, and he built (himself) and installed a turbo on it!!! One day, after he had just put some semi-race tires on it (No Al, not Michelins  ) he came pick me up for a "New tire break in" as he put it....
He picked a roundabout (plenty of them where I live) with no traffic, and floored it for a couple of laps with the car sideways all the time. I can definitely say this is the fastest I've ever been around one of these.
He eventually blew the engine after squeezing out every H.P. he could get out of it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he tried a jet engine on a car next....

That's a very popular upgrade in an SCCA class, "Spec Miata", that's how popular and capable that car is.. First-gen RX-7s handled a bit better from stock and comparing like upgrades, but the Miata was basically the first "retro style" car. S'posed to evoke an early '60s Lotus Elan.
For those of us who like to see a little "pedigree" in our favorite brands, Mazda is the only Japanese maker to ever take an overall win at LeMans.
It also currently dominates the Rolex GT series with the RX-8s.
"Made to be Played with. "

I sure hope so Toni. I'm a bit of a purist, but to me automatic sports cars border on sacrilege. Of course that's coming from someone who has never owned an automatic car.

Congrats on the new ride Zulu!

More thanks all!

5 speed... 8)

Russ, that picture of Kermit perfectly captures the emotion of driving a fun little sports car.

Should've gotten a car like this sooner, I do have racing in my blood: Uncle Jules Goux:

:D Cool photos Zulu, Your car looks like allot of fun to get around in. So much so, that you must be looking for excuses just to drive somewhere. Sure takes transportation to another level doesn't it. 8)
That photo of Uncle Jules and Old #16 is fantastic! What a cool dude! Bet his story was a good one. That baby must have been a blast to drive. I like the way the bonnet is held down ( with leather straps) and the Petrol tank is right at his back. The Whitewall ,spoked tires , the suspension, are most impressive, and that big handbrake too, Cool stuff. Great Automobile. Great Photo.(Man, even the street is nice....paved, with pavers!)
Thanks for sharing that one.

Thanks southern! You're right, we're using any excuse to go for a drive.

That's The Brickyard! Indianapolis - Indy 500 winner 1913. Still holds the highest margin of victory at 13.5 minutes. And that's with champagne at every pit stop  8)

Sandy, the MGA was the last MG made by the Morris company then it got sold to the Triumph company and the MGBs were crap... My MGA was great.looked a bit like the Austin Healey, but smaller.....and it didn't have the old cotton insulation on the wiring...they used to be a pain.... Steffan
This is what mine looked like but I didn't have the spoke wheels, I had the little holes that went all the way around.....

I remember the MGAs well. Didn't they have lever shocks?

Hard to believe anything with a Lucas electrical system and SU carburetors could be reliable.
