I can't believe I'm sitting here defending the Dixie Chicks.

Hey -- I'm watching the news right now. If Condolizza Rice can defend the president by saying "all presidents have it rough in their sixth year" you can certainly defend the Dixie Chicks.

Hey, I'm about as conservative a voter as they come, but I can separate politics and talent. I like the Dixie Chicks music. I like Neil Young's music and Don Henley's also.

And I think Alec Baldwin and George Clooney are good actors!

I just saw a bit of an episode of "Friends" and when I turned the tube on, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders was sitting in the coffee house those friends hang in. She was playing "Angel of the Morning" on a Guild F-20 sunburst. They didn't show it long, going back out to the characters outside on the street, but it was a nice close-up of the Guild. Pretty cool, huh!

I seem to recall that Phoebe used to perform "Smelly Cat" on a Guild sometimes, too!

Nick Drake

This wasn't on TV, but it counts as a sighting since I caught it clear as a bell from internet radio on these little Klipsch computer speakers. These speakers were an excellent investment.

Nick Drake doing "Tow The Line" If in fact it was an M 20 he was playing I can see why kids would like to sound like he does.

The Guitar was making a bigger sound than you would imagine. My analysis would be it sounded similar to the Arch top acoustics the old blues players played exept noticeably more resonant.

Any M 20 pickers care to comment ?

I just saw the episode and recorded two parts in which she plays. I assume Smelly Cat tabs are somewhere. Does the song even have a complete set of lyrics? Here is the link to Angel of the Morning and Smelly Cat: http://www.tolkiencollector.com/apics/hynes.mov

Deutschmark,

About Phoebe, did she really sing that song? Whatever happened to her?

Dr. Pipesnake,

He really does look good. I still like to play "Last Train To Clarksville."

Artist: Phoebe Buffay Lyrics
Song: Smelly Cat Medley Lyrics
Three, four...

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat
It's not your fault

They won't take you to the vet
You're obviously not their favorite pet
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault

You may not be a bed of roses
You're not friend to those with noses
I'll miss you before we're done
Or the world will smell as one

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat
It's not your fault

(Phoebe) Oh are we done?

One, two, what's that smell?

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat
You're getting fat

I think that I'm gonna be sick
It's your ears, and nose and pick
Part of it, tempt me

One, two, what's that smell?

All the dogs in the neighborhood
Are saying this for your own good
What, you're fat, so you can't run
No fun, I bet, No fun

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
Porno makes you eat like that
I saw you in the shopping mall

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault,
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault

We know what was in your food
They say it might affect your mood

You smell like something dead (3x)

One, two, what's that smell?

(Phoebe)Yeah, that's not the song

What might happen to anybody who actually sang this song?

back to the bonnie rait, I'm a youngin' and dont really know her whole career but can remember growing up and listening to my dad play some of her cds in the house and some of the lyrics and moods that are portrayed have always left me with the image in my head of what "strong woman" is, and for that although older that image makes her beautiful!

and as far as the girl with a guitar thing goes, Sarah McGlaughlin, Lisa Loeb I think a damn fine, Dont think they are the best players.... but im a sucker for just about any good looking girl that can play even if all she can play is smelly cat!
