Straight up sale or possibly trade for my Collings OM2H or the Santa Cruz OM/PW, but Guild condition & playability would have to be near perfect...

Ken, those Orpheum 12 strings are rare as hen's teeth, and the handful of people that bought them aren't giving them up! Good luck in the hunt, I'll let you know if I stumble across one.

Thanks Sandy. Need a small-body 12er and the Orpheum would be great, although I understand the scarcity. Haven't considered other brands; might have to shop around...

Well, why not an F 12 string, like F112, 212 or 312?

Another option might be the Doyle Dykes model. The only thing about them is that the low E and A octave strings are reversed, which you may or may not like depending on how much fingerpicking you do. Of course, there's not many of them either I'm afraid!

Yeah, Ken, I think an F112 would look good on you. :friendly_wink:

With a little modification, this one could work.

Cheers,
Joe

Oh there it is! The only modified F112-6 in the world. Hans should put that in the new book :)

An F112 might work, Wood. I've owned 212 and 312 models which are very nice, but I've moved on to mostly OM sized instruments due to arthritis in the shoulders...

I'll keep my eyes peeled Scratch. If I see an Orpheum 12 I'll let you know. Just to clarify, Will a Dread size work like a G212 or G312? or are you looking specifically at OM bodied or the smaller F112 like Joe's? I understand the shoulder arthritis as I am now 9 months past a Partial shoulder replacement and it's not working. LOL

OM size only for our pal Scratch TX. I would imagine a 112 would be preferable to a 212. We know you have your finger on the pulse!

Appreciate the help. OM body or similar (F112) fit my needs. I have a JF30-12 that I frequently play, but the shoulders talk back to me each time. I enjoyed my previously owned F212ce and G312 immensely, but they're not what I'm looking for presently...

I can empathize Scratch and Bump. My right back shoulder is killing me. My D25 is just not helping. Looking smaller as well. There is an F112 at guitar center in Plano for 800 but needs a lot of work. F30 at local shop in McKinney but too expensive. 1400. Gonna be hard to find for me locally. Without shipping I mean.

Copy that on the OM or Smaller F112 size for Scratch. Hey Wood, I don't know if it is in your price range right now but I think Rocky at Street Sounds still has a few New Hartford F30's for around $1000-$1100 on sale Brand New. At least he did a week or two ago. Just an idea.

Update for Wood, Here is the link. Looks like it was a little more than I remembered. If you call him you may get a better deal as it is a 2012 model. I'd say a $1000 offer would be hard for him to turn down with it being there that long. He has 2 others listed as well.

Ken, if you can't find an Orpheum 12 then I'd second the recommendation of an F-112. I don't have one, but I have played one and it was really nice. The small body doesn't give up anything to it's bigger brothers. But it's sure easy to handle.

Well what do ya know Scratch, It's your lucky day. I can't find any in the states at this moment but if you really want one I have found 4 Brand new in Canada at LA Music. 2 Rosewood Slot head OM 12's and 2 Mahogany Slot Head OM 12's. I don't know if their prices are converted for U.S. Dollar or not, but that is something you can call and ask them about. The ad states the are subject to availability but they have 2 listings for each tone wood so they should have them in stock. Good Luck! Here is the link for each.

I'd only do it as a special order.

Here's what the head used to look like, back in the day. :friendly_wink:

Joe

I've got leads on several located around the country, but I question their shape. I know that one. Is it doable to return to original?

Thomann in Germany sent me a private e-mail telling me they have just received two more! (I bought the prototype from them last year after Musikmesse and they knew I was originally looking for a Hog Sunburst). So now they got another natural Rosewood and a Mahogany Sunburst! I knew that a Mahogany Sunburst was unaccounted for but I didn't know there was another Rosewood. Don't know where Thomann got them from...
The pictures for the Rosewood are still the pictures of the prototype which I have, so they reused the pictures. But the picture for the sunburst mahogany is new, I never saw a picture. I have to say it looks gorgeous to me!

Here are the listings for the two probably last available in the world:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/guild_orpheum_slotted_12_om_r_nat.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/guild_orpheum_slotted_12_om_m_sb.htm

And sure the prices went up, last year we had a €/$ exchange rate of 1.4, now we have 1.1, so that means prices in Euro are up quite a bit here.
