First off is a "Musicians Friend" guitar chair...essentially a Canadian-rocker without arms. Great for playing guitar, but for me not so great as a replacment living-room chair, back angle just not quite right
for me. That said, we have two, one downstairs and one in bedroom.
Second is a simple wooden folding chair from Ocean State Job Lots; we bought four as "overflow" seating at Thanksgiving, padded so more comfortable than the standard folding metal chair. Height is just right for me at 6" tall for guitar playing on front porch.
As to the Guild stool, I have both sizes (both Country AND Western
)...I find the taller one great when working at basement workbench but too tall to play guitar on...I find the shorter one better for guitar, though if it was just an inch shorter it would be just right.
Somewhere in the basement, I have a three leg drum-throne, a copy of the new style Ludwig came out with in the middle 60's (it was labeled "Midland, " like the Asian electronics company) which is still hard to beat. Had the seat recovered once, and my father had a metal foot rest made in his machine shop. Alas, the rubber feet are shot and not sure how/where to replace them...
