Hey guys, I am new to this sight and would appreciate some help. I just pulled two guilds out of a local pawnshop and was wondering if I got a good deal? The first one is a 1974 S-100 in Black. It has amazing tone, just very warm and bluesy. It came with a hardshell case (not original) I think, and has a few dings but nothing that effects play. The 1960 M-65 is a full scale Freshman. It plays and sounds good, but it does have a slight crack in the top by thr F hole. I am sure that it can be repaired, and everything seems to be completely original, including the soapbar pick-up. I was really curious what they might be worth, I paid $190.00 for both, so I think I got a pretty good deal. I would love some advice from the experts. I can post some pictures later today.

Thanks, Marty

Welcome aboard, Marty!

If the guitars are just in average shape you made off like a bandit! (Do we have a bandit smilie?) If they are investments, you will make a tidy profit. If you intend to play them, you are likely to be very satisfied. A quick search through eBay will give you an idea of what they are worth, but the guys on the forum here who own those specific models probably have the "blue book" price in their heads! When they get here they'll be able to give you a fair market value range. Some photos of your plunder would be very much appreciated, when you can!

Post well. Post often.

You got a great deal. If you find that you're not happy, just offer them for sale on this board any time at the same price, and your email will overflow.

Nice find.

Welcome.

If the offer price is $190 I'm sure the potential buyers will offer you your choice of American or Canadian dollars, whichever is worth more to you.

Welcome Marty,we in the UK would love to have pawnshops like yours that give away Guilds. Someone sold a Guild on e-bay in pieces for over $300 and you bought 2 useable classics for $190. Yes, that is a deal and some. Most of us are green with envy but we love to hear stories of great deals whoever gets them.
All the best, Steve.

That's like finding them behind the ATM that just spit cash all over you  . I haven't even seen a used Guild guitar in the state. Strong work.
