Just bought a 12-string Guild

I worded something poorly earlier. I said: "So much so that I didn't seek advice here, for fear that someone else would snatch it up."

I did NOT mean that I thought one of you fine folks would do an end-around and grab it. I wasn't saying that at all. What I meant was that I was concerned that if I took the time to seek opinions, have people respond, read the comments, etc. that someone else, somewhere else - not here in this group might see it and buy it. It had just been listed a couple of hours so I decided not to miss out on it.

But I just noticed how I phrased that and realized that it could have been taken in the wrong way. I knew you Guild-brethen wouldn't do that. This isn't some effin' Martin forum, amiright? :)
That instrument sold in 4 hours after it was listed. Good buy from what I can tell. Got to be able to pull the trigger.

Well congrats! From the pictures the action looks good, so it looks it probably won't need much work or anything so it looks like you practically stole it! Nice score!

They are really cool guitars. I have an 82. I bought it about 9 years ago. It was listed as an "O"212. The guy wanted $225 for it. It was a weird meet up with him at this light rail station. I didn't even really get to play it. I unzipped the gig bag that it was in, looked at it from a few different angles, and gave him the money. Then ran to catch the train. The thing is an absolute beast. In an acoustic setting, I can play bass with it. The word cannon is thrown around a lot. D212's are cannons. There are a lot of them around, so don't give up. You'll find one, if you want.

Yep, a joke about the finish color. Don't recall Guild ever using the wood (but have seen it as body wood from other makers), but they did offer the finish color in the late '90's early '00's (Peregrine custom):

I have a JF30 12-string in chestnut. I bought it thinking I really landed a rare bird, before discovering that “chestnut” on the label referred to the stain, not the wood type.

Luckily it was reasonably priced, in great shape, and sounds terrific. This was more than 10 years ago; I still have it.
