Unless I'm sorely mistaken, this was a very good deal. So much so that I didn't seek advice here, for fear that someone else would snatch it up. I just hit the "buy" button.

So, one of three things happens now:

1) You say "Great deal, congrats!"

2) You say "You idiot! Didn't you see where it said _______? Or the picture of ______?" Or "Didn't you know D-212s are a pile of poop and are made of toxic waste and make your nose fall off?"

3) The seller says "Whoops, that was a misprint on the price is actually a lot more. Sale canceled."

There is a fourth possibility: You may be advised as to where to send it for a neck reset. I assume this was an internet purchase and you have not yet had a chance to play it.

Congrats and good luck.

You make a very good point. Based on the seller's history and reviews on Reverb (which you now actually see since it was brought to my attention that I had not provided the link!) and their description of their process, I am hopeful that things will go well. But one never knows, right?

If it all checks out and no major work is needed then is a really great deal!

Congrats Granddaddy!

Hate to break it to you but that's Mahogany, not Chestnut.....hope that wasn't the primary buying motivator.....
Yes, I knew that but thanks for watching out for me. Was chestnut - the wood - ever even a thing? I'm happy with mahogany, the classic Guild archback design/wood combo.

Looks good in the photos. Free Shipping. Made in America. 14 day return policy. Probably sat in their shop for months unsold because of that scratch. Looks like you got a good deal!

Yep, a joke about the finish color. Don't recall Guild ever using the wood (but have seen it as body wood from other makers), but they did offer the finish color in the late '90's early '00's (Peregrine custom):

I worded something poorly earlier. I said: "So much so that I didn't seek advice here, for fear that someone else would snatch it up."

I did NOT mean that I thought one of you fine folks would do an end-around and grab it. I wasn't saying that at all. What I meant was that I was concerned that if I took the time to seek opinions, have people respond, read the comments, etc. that someone else, somewhere else - not here in this group might see it and buy it. It had just been listed a couple of hours so I decided not to miss out on it.

But I just noticed how I phrased that and realized that it could have been taken in the wrong way. I knew you Guild-brethen wouldn't do that. This isn't some effin' Martin forum, amiright? :)

That's a great deal if it's structurally sound and doesn't need a neck reset. I love my '96 D25-12, which is the successor to the D212.

Looks fine in the photos, and hopefully no major work needed. At that price you did good, HNGD!
