I couldn't tell you. I don't understand why. When I put mediums on the guitar, it gets this "muted" sound in the treble E & B, so I put some lights on and it is fine. Perhaps it is just made to sound better with lights, I don't know. When I have more time to work on it, I'll look into it further. I've never had this trouble with any other guitars that I've changed the nut out before.
