It might be but it is Facebook with a "NAR"*

*No a$$hole rule"

Cute. Text with size 1 wasn't showing up for me until I replied. You might want to investigate Spoiler tags. If you warn people, especially Moderators, that something might bother them and hide it behind a tag you can at least smugly say "well I warned you" if there are complaints or knuckles rapped.

For the record the fact that "We have threads on recipes, dogs, cats, 3D printers, on-line banking, beer, home repair, more recipes, etc., etc., etc., etc...." is a cause for concern. Some of them are more likely to get closed or deleted than others and require more Moderation.

Why are you guys even comparing Facebook to LTG?
Assuming you want an answer to that (probably not) it's usually the people who eschew FB and complain about it the most come here and try to turn LTG into a FB-like experience, not realizing the difference. Usually people who moan and complain about social media the most. So they treat LTG like it's their own personal FB. So those who've gone away from FB lose that experience, and try to gain it somewhat here. That's my take on it. So if that was rhetorical, sorry. You get an answer anyway..... well, you get MY answer!! :p:ROFLMAO:

Also, concerning what frono said about non-guitar/Guild topics, I agree. They are the most likely to be/get contentious and have to be moderated/closed/deleted. And people who want a more FB-like experience here tend to go off topic more, not realizing that this isn't FB. However, I do enjoy some of the food/pet/project/tool type subjects and they do entertain me. So, yeah, if we just stick to guitars it can get a little dry. On the other hand, it can get OUT of hand. It's a balance thing, I guess. ;)

I like LTG because - for me - it started as Guild-guitar forum - and then fairly quickly started to be a bit lame when only reading guitar-related things. Then I discovered the other things that my guitar-loving fellows were interested - and THAT injected more juice - it showed more of the fact, that we all are humans w everyday concerns and tasks - but when the slot in time is right - we'd grab The Guild - and "let it burn" or whatever . . .

If this were strictly about Guild guitars - I'd be gone some years ago. I'd gathered all information I need.

BUT - I think - for me - this is a community - friends - acquaintancies - wagely known - totally strangers - who all walk on this earth - and share their love for music - and dogs - kitties - automobiles - food - etc - just to name few.

And all that is why LTG is on my top 3 in internet.

THANK YOU ALL - for making LTG what it is.

ps - IF I ever win in lottery - I'll make a trip to US - to meet as many of you as possible. 🐾

Funny, I joined FB exactly one year ago. What I like is the specific groups like the 'Gibson SJ-200 fans and owners' and the 'Epiphone Inspired by Gibson' groups that I can relate too.
I'm also an F1 fan and boy they can post a lot of rubbish and insults at each other.

BTW I contribute to the Acoustic Guitar Forum, Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum and Gibson Brands Forum as well as LTG - gotta say this is the nicest bunch of people here by far.

Have bought and sold a number of guitars on FB Marketplace over the past year and a half or so -
nothing but good experiences thus far. The DeArmond T400 I'd listed for sale here sold on FBM.

IME FBM has eclipsed CL inquiries & sales of guitars. FBM's search feature is disappointing in terms of
being able to get specific results, but hopefully will get better in the future.

Do you have any tips for searching on FBM?

beecee - no killer tips, wish I did - hoping someone here might have some!
I typically search the whole USA coast to coast - I search 8 or 10 major US cities within a
500 mile radius search that overlap - that pretty much covers the US.

Right now the search filters just don't seem specific enough. If you search for Guild, you do find Guild guitars but you
also get endless other products associated with that word. If you search for Guild guitar, you'll get
every single guitar for sale on FBM. Screen shot below is the results of the search Guild D40 using Chicago IL as the city
using a 500 mile radius.

Yes, of course I bought the D40 in Trenton, MI for $1...heh.

Which brings me to the reminder that just like CL - anything goes.
Folks who may not have your best interests in mind are out there,
so eyes wide open!

Fwiw, here's the same search for Guild D40 using Las Vegas.
Not an unreasonable ask for a very worn burst D40, but saddle looks low.
