and I don't miss it a bit! I have much better things to do with my time, like posting here!

Really, it's refreshing to discuss guitars, cooking, classic cars, chainsaws, etc. here, and NOT politics!

I also know a lot more about Guilds after spending so much time here, at least I can make some pretty good educated guesses on models, features, etc.

You'd have been better off not marrying in the first place. Narcissism is for those 'special' people.

I’m with you. I didn’t really ever like it, but I gave it a try for a couple of months. Although I can see how the positives outweigh the negatives for some, all I could see was a platform designed to keep me there for as long as possible.
No thanks, Mr. Z.

Never had a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. account in my life. I have PLENTY of constructive ways to spend my time; Family time, playing guitar, reading, helping the kids with homework, LTG, yard/house work, job. I have an addictive personality(6 years sober) and don’t need it

I've never been on it, but examples like lungimsam's are excellent examples of it's potential power for good. Long distance families sharing photos, keeping in touch with people overseas in the military, etc. are others. Unfortunately, that is not their main business model.

I'm a long-time facebook hater. Actually, I like discussing politics, correcting misinformation, etc. (not that it changes anyone's mind). In fact, I was just BANNED from City-Data. It has scads of different forums, one being politics. Its politics forum is a veritable cesspool of misinformation, conspiracy theories, ridiculous QAnon types, blatant falsehoods, and disgusting trolls. And the moderators appear to side with such members. Not sure why I care.

Anyway, yes, guitars are a much more pleasant topic for discussion.

Like most everything, there are goods and bads with Facebook. There are some good places to visit on FB. Blake's Guild page is one, he's a good Ambassador for the brand. And, it has helped me keep in touch with some folks I lost track of over the years. I don't spend a lot of time on the site but I'm o.k. with it. I just skip over all the political, negative crap.

Fecebook? ;]

Like all things in life, it's a double edged sword.

I think just the news in general... I just come here and ignore the other stuff, for a while. Then come back to ignore it some more ;]

I'd rather be here.

I’m not on it. Too much negativity from kooks foaming at the mouth, unfortunately including much of my extended family, that is impossible to get away from.

At this point in my life I’m constantly trying to reduce my stress level, not increase it. LTG and guitar is my mental health therapy, my Nirvana. I’ll stick to that thank you.

"unfortunately including much of my extended family"

Yeah, therein was much of the problem for me too.

I think it's more of a right-wing group here, not too many left-hand players here. 🤐

I had to bail on social media sometime last year. Was starting to become bad for the mind.

I'm in FB - there are selected groups where discussion stays moderate - because the subjects are special - like vintage audio - electric cars - but it is quite true, that on some other groups things heat up and behaviour is lost - I spend no time on those.

I was once an admin of a 50,000 member guitar group and I eventually resigned because at those numbers you get to witness people who are twice your age act like they’re half as old as you over things not worth arguing over. That and the creator of the group of all people started posting provocative stuff that would result in me and other admins spending lunch hour trying to clean up the comments. No thanks...
