Although it has been a relatively quiet start to the season it does appear to be picking up.

I just want to extend my best wishes to all those in the South East that are or will be in the path of tropical weather.

Hold your own my friends.

+1 to what Graham said, and batten down those Guilds!

Better yet, send them way north to me and Graham, where they'll be safe :D

More thanks. Waits 'til the season is half over, then we get three named storms forming in less than a week! :?

Thanks, on behalf of my 92 year old Mom.
She's lived in southwest Louisiana all her life and has dodged more than a few hurricanes and tornados. Most recently, Katrina passed to the east of her and Rita slipped by on the west. She lost a shingle or two but claimed to have "enjoyed the cool breeze."
The Virgin Mary stands on a pedestal in the side yard, so maybe that's her storm insurance! It's worked so far. :D

Four strong winds,
Joe

She lives in Crowley, a.k.a. the Rice Capital of America and the home of the International Rice Festival. Of course, crawfish farms have just about taken over that old glory hole for rice.
I also have relatives in Lafayette and New Iberia, and Jennings and Lake Charles and.......well, you get the idea.

And snow goose hunting capital of South Louisiana. Never been there myself, but I've got buddies that go there every year. Cajun are ya? You'll find few non Cajuns that have more respect for the Cajun people than myself. My buds down there are all Dugas', Stelly's, Landry's, and Leleaux's.

Well my hat is off to you and I'm honored to meet you my Louisiana brother. How'd you end up in Washington.....long way from South Louisiana?

I have to admit, it wasn't one straight shot getting here. There were a few memorable stops along the way, but ending up here has been a real pleasure....for 32 years and counting.
It's a long enough story to write a book, and I'm actually in the process of putting together a chronicle of sorts to purge my brain.
I've also been here long enough to get acclimated to cooler summers than Louisiana has to offer.
