This one is actually quite interesting. Fretless 6-string electrig "double bass"

Looks like someone tilted the neck w shims to get higher angle to provide space for double bass bridge w transducer.

Naturally all that required butchering to get that humbucker close enough. Of course could've been executed nicer . . .

Wonder what the original instrument used to be.

One of those times where you really wish this was a Chibson!
Why?
What does it matter whether this guitar started life as a genuine or counterfeit Gibson?
I believe it is important to remember that whoever did these modifications did them for their own benefit and enjoyment,
and while you or I may not agree with that person's motives, in the end, presumably they made them happy, and really is none of our concern.

This one might qualify as a hot mess if someone else had owned it:

Aha! The famous Alligator Stratocaster... said to be a gift from Graham Nash as a way to thank Jerry Garcia for playing on his album. This is the tone heard on Europe '72, played thru a Fender Twin Reverb. My favorite tone of all Garcia's guitars!

Also my favorite. He was playing it when I first saw the Dead live in March 1973. It had a grit that his later guitars did not have.
