Welcome Barbara. Beautiful guitar, the back is stunning. They are special aren't they
Well there is my 1969 F 512 special's younger brother, mine is 217 ,it's quite surprising that even with a thinner depth of the body ,my special is way louder, longer sustain that my deeper JF55-12.

Let me know when you have a gig, and I will drag myself off the couch and come out to see how the pros do it. ;-)

Barbara - welcome back. Under the circumstances I will not try and keep this thread focused on the guitar under discussion :)

It is not unheard of for LTG folks to gather in the NJ and/or Philadelphia area, so when you do play let us know and we can put names, board handles and faces together.

What's a drop weekend?

Sorry, I work for the PO and, as we work a six day week, my day off during the week changes. Those dates mentioned, are my Friday and Saturday off. I get a Saturday off once every six weeks, and having the Friday off beforehand just means I will be less frantic. ;-)

These don't come up very often, I did see what I though was a F612 a few years back selling in the mid west.I was corrected by Ralph I believe, that it was actually a F512 special. The seller was asking a fair price for it, I made contact with them, then it disappeared, only to pop back up on reverb with a new seller ,but same guitar ,stating that it was a F612, which it wasn't, it was the same F512 special, He was asking huge dollars as he considered it a 612, but the purfling weren't correct, I guess he thought it was a 612 because of the florentine inlays..........It ended up selling but way out of my budget.

Here is a fun A/B of 70man's headstock pre-restoration, and my original restoration. Note the position of the G-shield and mark on each. I believe the headstock shape itself is the same, however. Sorry mine is cropped a bit at the top. Cool, eh?

Looks like the tuners are spaced slightly different bottom to top ,and the "G" shield. Guess that's hand made stuff.your One Barb the tuners start near the full curve of the truss rod cover, mine seems to be set higher.Maybe that's to do with refining the process. Guess only Carlo know's. Must have been amazing to meet him in person.Living legends. And what a work ethic he had!.Doing what you love helps I'd imagine..Nice comparison though.

No Darryl, This guitar is still for sale. Unfortunately I can't make the finances work right now. Best of luck to whoever throws their hat in the ring on this one!
