Yeah; well ... with the muriatic acid thing, he sort of got it going in reverse ... getting rid of stuff ... getting stuff to grow, that's another problem altogether

No it was a "What's for dinner" thread that he thought was too girlish, though he did reply a few times.

Jeff's the one that's got it going. He's right about that Super Thrive with vitamins and hormones. Works better than viagara. Although it looks like it gave Jeff an enormous can.

real nurseries as opposed to Home Despot,
Nyuk, nyuk.

Yes, summer isn't the time to be planting trees, or even pruning them. Pruning has to be done right. And if you want to prune them yourself, look up how to do it on the net. After you prune them on the net, do it to your trees. Though personally I like trees without prunes. So I tp mine. Toilet paper instead of the prunes, or toilet paper after the prunes--it's your choice. But I take full advantage of the fact that prunes reduce your toilet toil.

You can make a living spreading that stuff. Especially if it's Piled higher and Deeper.

Thank you guys.......Cappy, Darryl and Jeff, my gosh at what you've done to that place. Yep Darryl, I've used 55 gallon drums of Roundup, I hate using the stuff, at some point even us "right" thinking people think a bit about the environment from time to time, I'll use it out here as a very last resort.

Back when they first began to develope this place, they planted rye grass to hold the soil, and a bunch of it. It gets so hot with so little water here, the rye always goes dorment in summer. Then I come along with 10,000 gallons of water and bam, right up through the sod. I haven't resorted to a weed killer yet, been pulling it all by hand.

Jeffrey, I'm really impressed with your place. The greenery reminds me a bit of Coastie's place. Just a touch of Eden.....very nice.

If that's Hatz alternative, I'm liking the Hanseatic acid a little more .... in moderation ... and on days with no wind ... in a rubber suit ...

I think it was that Canuk roasted Possom roadkill recipe that done it.

I grew up on a dairy farm, shoveling cow sh*t was my life, I expect there few here having more experience.

Opportunity came early in my life for a career in sales. The experience of my youth proved invaluable.

I don't know guys, per Jeff's suggestion, it might be a better idea to wait.....101 with 107 heat index today, but we're got a cold front coming through Sunday with temps plummeting down to 95 and a 20% chance of rain. It's summer in Texas.

Those Canuckis  what'd they say ... it tastes like chicken?

West; unless you put up some of that plastic film landscaping shade like they use here, I think you're done for the summer. Man, that heat sounds miserable .... and we were crabbing because it hit the mid-90s ... yow!

Yep John, got out there this morning, bout 9 am. I had my head covered, long sleeve tee shirt, and some fairly long shorts. I didn't plan on being out there too long. I came in at 3:15. Legs got a bit red, but not cooked. They really do call this heat dangerous. Just gotta take precautions. Growing a flower bed is a different story. Grass is doing well though, man have I poured the water to it.

About 10 years ago, Dallas went 60 consecutive days with high temps over 100. A bit warm where Kenny and Russ live too I'm sure.

Ho Li Cao. I had no idea it got so hot there. With the humidity, it must have been insufferable. Do the Astros and Rangers have sealed domes? I know Coastie does, but I suspect there are cracks in it.

We had seats for a good game once at the Ballpark at Arlington Darryl, right down the 3rd base line facing due west for an afternoon game............I probably watched the first 30 minutes of the game and went inside.......it was unbearable. And for me to walk out of a major league game, it had to be. The Astros play in Minutemade Park, once Enron Field ( ), the place is incredible with a retractable roof and great air conditioning. I've been to many games at both fields though, both very nice.....just hotter than hell on a hot day in Arlington. Just missed Nolan Ryan's 5000th strikeout in Arlington.....he did it the next game.....got Ricky Henderson for #5000.

We were also at a game you may remember, bout 4 years ago at Minutemade, when Lance Berkman hit a screaming line drive right into the head of a Braves pitcher. Cold cocked him for a few minutes. The ball careened off of his forehead and went to the corner in right on the fly. With runners on and a live ball, it was really a strange play with the pitcher out like a light on the mound and runners moving. We were right behind George Bush and Drayton McLain for that one, bout 10 rows off the field, right behind the plate......wild! The Braves pitcher walked off mostly under his own power.....and with the help of a couple of Astros. Glad he was ok. Both fine facilities though.

Jeff... That is a gorgeous hunk of property you have there. You and the Redhead should be mighty proud of your labors...

West: Today is the 10th in a row over 100 degrees. 104 for the second consecutive day and not a blade of green in the yard. Natural/Xeriscaping is the only thing that works around here as the deer eat absolutely everything you plant.

Hatted one: Finally I know where the term 'battery assid' originated...

I spent the summer of '69 at Ft Sam Houston; we had a 21-day run of 100+ temps ... really unbearable. In the late '90s, my employer used to get our entire group together in Dallas ... maybe 1,000 of us. At the end of the day, they'd serve BBQ and beer 'out back' ... on the south side of the Wyndham ... sitting there at 5:30pm or so, temps at 105-106, sun so far down the shade umbrellas at the tables useless to block the rays. So hot, they couldn't keep the beer cold ... and mgmt thought it was doing us all a big favor ...

There's hot ... and then there's Tejas hot ...
