I agree with previous comments that if they do something it will be based on existing models/body shapes. I would love to see a true F40 or F30 size but that seems unlikely. Tweaking the D55 and M40 would be Ok.

I just hope that if they do they make it special enough. To me that includes an ebony fretboard and bridge, premium wood, premium tuners, special rosette and maybe a little something on the headstock and at least the 12th fret marker.

I will throw this out there… A couple years ago I asked if they would consider an LTG special run. They checked and said it might be possible if based on an existing model, 20 piece minimum and was ordered through a dealer. If they aren’t gong to do it maybe we can.

Mikey, that'd be awesome. Let's keep at the membership to see if there's an inclination for a special model. I think LTG might be on it's 20th anniversary this year (not sure), but if we're still motivated for a 25th, I bet that'd get some interest (I know I'd be interested).

The UMGF did a beautiful guitar in figured mahogany that people were able to order from Martin for several years. Maybe we can work out something like that (rather than 20 pcs at once) with CMG.

How about a DV-7X? With platinum and smoky quartz...

^ I like that, dread. I do think the dreadnought model would be the most likely candidate for them.

Maybe they can embed smoky quartz in the bridge, kind of like the snowflake inlays Guild did in the late-60s and early-70s! Platinum... well, maybe the tuner buttons could be alloyed with it?? Or perhaps bridge pins in platinum alloy.

Since you only joined in 2018....

There were discussions between LTG and Guild in New Hartford about a LTG model. The ground rules were specifications that did not require "significant" changes to the production line and orders for ten needed to be in hand before the production run of at least twenty started.

That didn't happen.

There were two big reasons. The first was that people could not agree on specs. The second was that for the specs that at least a couple people agreed upon no one would actually commit money in advance. If you are motivated you could probably find the discussion.

I don't see things being different now. The suggestions for a 70th show a wide diversity of opinions and, as before, some of them are wildly unrealistic if the changes to the existing production lines are constrained. The willingness of ten members to commit to a brand new Oxnard built instrument seems unlikely given both economics and stated preferences for older instruments.

The problem with smokey quartz inlaid in ebony is that unless the crystal is lit from behind or another light source or put on a white background, it tends to be very dark and I doubt it would show up much. Light shell-work works well as well as opaque stones like turquoise or coral. You can find light colored smokey quartz but again, inset in ebony I doubt it would show up well at all. I sure hope they do something in 2023 for the anniversary. Whatever form it may take.

I'm in the bad shoulder crowd. Still, it would be cool to see an F50R Special with the old-school set of fretboard inlays as were used on the F612. If they go that route, I hope they will also have some limited-run coffee mugs for the bad shoulder crowd.

The GV70 would seem an obvious choice!
16" lower bout F body, they don't make those. Maybe when Taylor goes out of business.

They could mount a piece of aluminum foil under it to reflect light through it. Or how about fiber optic edge lighting?

Solar panel disguised as pickguard with enough output to light the "Guild" headstock logo too. (In alternating colors to mimic real abalone.)

Can I tell 'em you're on board?
So we're talking VIRTUAL headstock, YEAH?? What about when there's no wifi..... ?? Back up stuff? or, just nothing.....

Oh it's a real headstock, self-contained, (except for solar panel pickguard) all hard-wired with factory lifetime warranty.

Or you could buy one of the NFT versions. The HiTek F49 70th Anniversary Edition. Limited to 70 pieces give or take.

Oh waitaminnit, are you saying you want a smartphone embedded in the headstock? It'd have to be upgradable, of course, but........brilliant!!! They'll keep coming back for upgrades!
