I have a guild d35 that i"d probably never part with but I am thinking of putting my x-50 up for sale on ebay. I've been trying to find a price list to get an idea of how much to start at. It is in good condition and plays nice, the serial number is 1526 which i believe is a 1954. Does any have any idea as to what a starting bid should be?

$25 CAD

I have seen a couple around the listings. There's one here from Jay Pilzer for $1250, although it's been there a while. And there's one here on eBay with an opener of $889.

Watch the eBay listing and see what happens, although it does appear to be a slow time at the moment, for Guilds anyway, I don't monitor others.

Then of course there are always steals out there like our very own John Kidder was able to score.

There you go. $649 is considered a steal by a new owner and $1250 seems to let it hang around the shop for a while.

Welcome to LTG.

Welcome to LTG.

Yes, Welcome to LTG.

I would be sorely tempted by a deal similar to John's.

Graham,

Thought I read one of your posts here lately where you were getting bogged down with Family responsibilities.

Don't ya think it would be best to get started on the house painting project, before the weather changes. :p

Not just this moment, but thanks for asking Jeff.

BTW, you'd look much better with one of these.

Mine looks like the one John Kidder got. I have the black pickup as well, serial # 1526, how come some of them have white pickups.

Nay, sadly my lust is for another, this one is sending me the most Enchanting of siren songs.

X 170 advertised somewhere in America at an attractive price, notice the Bigsby.

I have received a generous offer from one of my enabling Brothers here to check it out for me, I think he said he could get to it tomorrow. I have genuinely discouraged his kind offer.

Now, should another member display interest in a fair deal on my
D5 CE, I might have cause to reconsider.

Jeez, where are my meds.

Must be David, he's 10 minutes away from every advertised guitar on the planet.

At the risk of sounding like the sort of smug self-satisfied son-of-a-bitch that we all love to hate, I do have to say that my $649 '53 X-50 is the sweetest guitar in my possession, and a hell of a score, and I'm proud and pleased as punch that I saw it early, and in the end was the only bidder on a poorly described guitar.

It is such a treat to play!! The early '50s long scale on the small 16" body is deluxe, and it has tone unlike any other (so far). I'm positively pumped. Just you wait till I get my new Thunderbird amp, and I'll be the envy of all the kids.
