Ryan Adams is now a featured Guild artist?

I think the jury needs to remain out on this one. No one mentioned Ryan Adams until Sandy asked if that was him with the 12. We still don't have a definite ID. Furthermore we are talking about a concept for a marketing and branding campaign, which Guild might not have bought, so the photo could have been of someone else or altered by the graphic designer.

The campaign is pretty neat, but the two or three designers I know are not actually allowed to post a their design work in a portfolio if the work had been purchased for a campaign. They have to wait until a certain time has elapsed or the company actually uses the campaign. So what I think we are looking at is a designer's concept and not anything Guild has vetted and will be using.

IMO YMMV
Holy Crap, Jamie, it seems that Guild has already bought the campaign ideas. I'm going to refer you to a picture you posted of PlayinPotter's new 60th's F30 Anniversary Guild case badge. It is the same as one of the designs presented on Brian Leach's portfolio website. Logical inference applies here, I believe.

I can't confirm Ryan Adams as a Guild featured artist...that was the reason for the question. All we do know is that Ryan Adams has owned and played a Guild D25 at some time during his career.

Chill, Bro........

Hmmm, sure looks like Guild bought the concept to me, Frono. Either that or they just opened themselves up for a big lawsuit.

As for the possiblitity of Ryan Adams being a Guild artist; while I think it would be really cool, I also can't see how FMIC could possibly be upset about a few of us ruminating about that possibility here.

I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again but I see no evidence that Guild is going to use Flolabs material or that they already are.

The business model I am familiar with is that the company goes to a designer. The designer makes some mockups, using the company's existing intellectual property as well as creating new intellectual property on behalf of the company. If the company likes the campaign then the company uses the material under a contractual agreement whereby the designer either sells the designer's intellectual property outright or licenses the company to use it for a period of time. During that period the designer is violating the contract if the designer publishes the design materials. If the design is not purchased then the designer usually has the right to use the company's intellectual property at least in the designer's own portfolio.

So the custom shop logo was in in use at least as early as October 2012. We don't know who designed it or when. The Flolabs file names imply the FloLabs work was done circa April 2012. But we don't know whether Guild designed the logo and allowed Flolabs to use it or whether Flolabs designed it and Guild adopted it, do we?

As for Ryan Adams, his use of a D-25 is well documented but besides this picture that is alleged to be Ryan Adams, there does not seem to be anything else on the internet that says he is playing Guilds again.

I'm not trying to be cranky but I do see people jumping to conclusions and I want to know what they know

Companies routinely allow designers to use the company's intellectual property. We don't know whether that badge was designed by Flolabs or designed by Guild and incorporated by Flolabs in work they did for Guild.

If I am a designer, have good lawyers and do work for you, part of the contract allows me to exhibit the work I did as part of my portfolio even if it includes your trademarks. If that's a problem then we hash it out before I start work and I probably raise my rates.

...is this Ryan Adams? Sure looks like him!

unless that photo is old, or photoshopped, or Ryan has undergone extensive tattoo removal...its just not him sorry guys. theres a reason u can't see their faces. it's cause they aint famous. although it's clear what they were goin for...

A little late to the party here...

actually it's Guild that appears to be late to the party. by anywhere from 7-11 years if u consider the pic of the copyCat guitar player right next to "12 string Adams." The Cardinals are finished.

i am not so familliar with Ryan to say i could bet my life that is not him in the picture, but if it is-someone went to great lengths to make people think otherwise PROBABLY HIM. much more likely it is not him, and they tried to make it look like it is...

i do agree though, they could be twins
