Welcome moto, nice score.

West should be by sometime today. He has a beautiful 72 as well. He might be able to shed some light on it for you.

Post some pics of it if you have them, I'd like to see the comparison to West's.

Motopayne,

Dying to see your DV 72.

Posting pics takes some determination. Use the img function to indicate where you want the picture to be placed.

Go to your picture file, right click on the image & copy the location of the pic. (URL), return to you post put your curser next to the img code & right click again, hit copy. Then use the preview function to see if it worked.

Experimenting with the spacing helps get things arranged.

Hey moto, if you have them on photobucket, you will see three tags under the picture, URL Link, HTML Tag, IMG Code. What you need to do click on the IMG Code, it will hi-lite. The click Edit, Copy. Come back here start your reply, click Edit, Paste in the white text box and the link will appear.

Preview your message to see the pic and if all looks good, hit submit.

Once you do it a couple of times, it's pretty easy.

try this

[IMG:1024:768]http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w152/motopayne/DSC00703.jpg[/img]

Just paste in the image tags like this.

There is an IMG url code, just copy it for each image, and paste it into the text field here. Simple. Or you can use the url html code to post links to the photos on the photobucket site.

Hey Moto,

Yep, pretty nice guitars aren't they. Don't let Hans know you've got one, he'll call her "gaudy".

All kidding aside, they are beautiful pieces of work, aren't they? As far as how much they're worth, well that depends on where you buy it. I've researched the model, as well as the DV73 all I could. I've seen one go for $1850, and I've seen one listed on Ebay for $3500. That one didn't sell. They are truly fine guitars though and worth a premium price in my view. I'd say that a specimen in fabulous condition would be worth somewhere between $2000 and about $2700, depending on the condition and how bad someone wanted it. I ran across a dealer in Dallas who had 6 new old stock DV72's in the store, 2 on display. One of those two was inlaid with malachite and was an awesome looking guitar with the green stone. Mine is turquoise.

What is the serial # of yours. As you can see in my signature, mine is #119 of the 200 some odd built. Mine is the finest finger picker I've ever played barr none. The action is set extremely low and she plays with ease. Tell me about yours?

hello there west, mine to is very nice for finger picking! the best base tone i've heard or played- mines in pretty good condition but the top has cracked and been repaired at some point. but has been done very well! other than that has a few minor marks. i feel pretty lucky to own this guitar i'm from the uk in a town near Brighton called worthing. so considering theres only 200 and most are probably in the us i've done quite well! got it from a local guitar shop Guitar Junction.serial LK000045[/url]

:D Well thank you Moto, there were 50 DV73's made. The 73 is the most awesome guitar. Mine looks showroom new, not a scratch, ding or dent on her. The action still feels factory tight. How does it compare? Well it's the same basic guitar, just beautiful with red coral, black onyx and turquoise trim. It also has a rosette about twice as wide as any other Guild I've ever seen. That's it in my Avatar. My DV72 is about 99.9% mint with one small buckle rash on the back about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long.

Graham,

The 72's had a couple of inlays that I know of. As I said earlier, I've seen one inlaid with malachite. They all have the arrow block fret markers with whichever stone is inlaid in the rosette comprising the arrows in the block markers. They also have inlaid G shield headstocks and all have the Grover Imperial tuners.

I was very lucky in the purchase of both guitars.
