So, what's the story on this guitar, FNG? When did Guild have a custom shop?

Looks wonderful!!

I think the Guild Custom shop was open 1997-2000, in Nashville. They built the Valencia, Deco and Finesse models, along with the D/JF-100s, I believe.

I think this was based on the DV-52 design, according to what Guildzilla found during his research.

They also built the 45th anniversary, the firebird, and the crossroads there. And perhaps the F30R-LS.

I dont think they built the d100's or the jf100's there...but i could be wrong.

Tim.

They were also briefly accepting custom orders at the time. Wish I had jumped on that!

The Guild custom shop was opened in 1997 after Fender shut down their Spring Hill factory.
The 1997 Catalog has 5 custom shoip models. The 45th anniversary, D100, JF100, DECO and
FINESSE.

The custom shop D100 and JF100 have carved heels identical to the Westerly's D100C and JF100C
which were built from 1993-1996.

The 2002 Fender Front Line Catalog still listed 5 Guild custom shop models. The Valencia, Valencia Cutaway,
Peregrine, SC3 Paloma and Crossroads.

The 50th Anniversary D-55, however, was not listed in the 2002 catalog.

Pictures to follow.

Hello everybody,

I realize most of you folks rely on the information that's in the official Guild literature and I guess you should be able to rely on that but the opposite is true.

The D-100 and JF-100 were never made in the Custom Shop in spite of what the 1997 catalog says!
Both these models were made in Westerly, RI up till they closed the plant in 2001.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Congrats, FNG, on an excellent score.

This is a very choice guitar, folks, especially for the abalone lovers. It has more abalone bling than any Guild I've held before - back seam, top edge and all the fingerboard and headstock inlays are abalone. While it doesn't have a G-shield, the Chesterfield inlay is very unique. FNG has a bunch of G-shield gits, anyway.
The bling elements don't scream at you, but there is a crafty elegance to the guitar.

It plays and sounds great. The guy who is selling it is a damn fine picker - a bluegrass guy - with a relaxed and controlled pick attack and nice dynamic range in his style. Hearing him play it brought out a lot of the subtleties of this guitar.

He told me he got it at The String Shoppe in Columbus in 1998.

Glad to help, Pat. Checking it out was fun. What's the shipping status and/or ETA?

Doug...he just got the check today! Hope it doesn't bounce.

Once the check clears, then it should get on the road. I'm going to talk to him this weekend, and give him some shipping coaching. Hopefully if all goes well, by the end of next week or so.

Thanks again for checking it out for me.. 8)
