That's right -- rub it in!
Didn't mean to do that.

It took literally years to strike a deal with Jerre Haskew. After our first round of negotiations failed, he listed it with Dream Guitars (hence the video). After it did not sell, I offered to pay what he would have netted after they took their cut and it worked out.

I'd be curious to know if there are others.
I believe Jerre said it was only that one and no second. To me that is the best sounding 12 string ever produced!

Interestingly enough, Jerre just posted a group photo of his band The Cumberland Trio on its 50th anniversary in 2013 with this very guitar. Must have been not long before he offered it up for sale here.

Jerre is in the middle, apparently lending the D80-12 to one of his bandmates. The story he told me is that the D80-12 and a D80 were both for sale at Mandolin Bros., as part of an estate collection. He called Tom Kilpatrick (on the right) from the store and purchased the D80-12 for himself and the D80 for Tom.

And Tom Kirkpatrick is cradlng a Goodall, with maple back and sides. Goodall makes some darn nice guitars -- I have one of his jumbo cedar-top guitars that is pretty magnificent.

I played a Goodall 12-fretter once. It was very touch sensitive and had tons of overtones. My ham-fisted playing resulted in a too much mud, but that guitar would have been wonderful for a fingerstyle player.

Besides being darned great guitars, Goodalls are also darned expensive guitars!

I got mine in trade for one of my Guilds, plus cash. It was a very good deal, but I only came to appreciate how good a deal it was later. The trade happened right before the pandemic, during which prices for used guitars, including Guilds, really started escalating.

Today I couldn't afford a Goodall -- even a used one in lousy condition!

I guess Jerre is holding his 1986 F-46 he also offered for sale to us in 2013.
