I found this as a demo at Sweetwater and thought why not. I’m hoping that it’s gig worthy. I’ll report after it gets here Thursday.
Sold spruce top arched ebony back and laminate ebony sides.

If it plays and sounds as well as it looks, it will be "gig worthy" plus.
Love that back.

D-2612E? What'll they come up with next? (F-2612E? F-1612E?) Looks like that'll be killer! Major congrats!

I really like Guild's MIC 260 series.
I think it's the ebony.
I also am a fan of their slope shouldered 240.

congrats!

It arrived Thursday and I gave it 24 hours before opening.
It sounds really nice but it’s hard to play. I guess I’m too much of a wuss for EJ38s. The saddle needs to be shaved, there is a big gap between the fret board and the strings at the 12th fret. Besides that it just doesn’t fit in the hard like the old ones do.
The bad thing is there’s a 4 inch finish crack on the back by the strap button. It most certainly isn’t there in the pictures.
I emailed my guy at Sweetwater and I’ll probably return it unless I get a considerable refund for the damage. Even then I might just say screw it.
I liked the idea of a new guitar that would stand up to gig use, but I may have to stick with westerly built Guilds.

Sorry to hear that. I bought its six string counterpart (D260E) as a stupid deal of the day a while back, and while the setup on arrival was OK, that's about the only good thing I could say about the guitar. I found the tone to be so shrill and brittle that I don't think I've ever sent back a guitar so quickly!

Probably should have kept it, because for what I see them selling for now, I probably could have held on to it for a bit, and sold it for a profit.

So I called Sweetwater . They are going to send me a new one set up with strings I like and better action and no damage. I’m not sure I’ll like it but it’ll be worth the effort if it ends up gig worthy.
I have to say Sweetwater is going out of its way to get me an acceptable guitar 🎸. It’d be easier and less expensive to just take the guitar back.
They are also sending me a set of EJ41s to put on this guitar while I wait for them to get one in stock. Pretty good customer service. They will replace a demo with a brand new one, same price.

Update: One day after I talked to Sweetwater my replacement strings arrived. I put them on (regretting my decision to be a 12 string player as I changed them), and the guitar plays so much better and sounds really good. Next step is to try the electronics.
I’m even getting used to this silly satin neck.
I’m not ready to call it a keeper, but it’s possible that it will be.😀

glad they are doing right by you.
i am disappointed to hear the guitar made it past their 55 pt inspection process, that should have never left the facility.
of course, that could all be marketing.

Oops I forgot the “D”.
You can edit the title of your original first post. Also you forgot the "DELUXE" at the end, as the DELUXE models are different (better).
Ralf
And you both forgot the "c" for Cutaway Electric.... :p

Sweetwater always has had the policy that if you buy a demo product that they're offering at a reduced price and it proves to be faulty or not as described, they'll replace it.

All the MIC Guilds are poly finish, no need to worry about thermal shock checking like with genuine NCL...Might be another plus for gigging use. ;)
True about the poly but I figured I’d do as they recommended. Wood still expands and contracts.
It seems really solidly built and gig worthy. It has a nice booming voice.
When I get my F112 back from the luthier I want to play them side by side and decide if there’s a good reason to keep both.
The happy result of this whole adventure is it got me playing a lot more.

Right, but with NCL it's the difference in expansion/contraction rates that causes the cracking. Poly's too damn durable to break at all. (And certainly can't fault you for erring on the side of caution, just wanted to relieve you of that worry.) ;)

Space allowing, I think you could justify having both just for the "tone flavor" variety. And I'd be leery about taking a nice vintage piece outside the house too. Heck, my D40 and F65ce have only been outside my residence about 3 times each in all the time I've owned 'em.

That's a very very good thing!!
