I've been posting about buying a black jumbo or dread for sometime now and months have gone by and I haven't seen one locally or online at anything close to a reasonable price. I've been reluctant to get anything online without playing it.

I see that one of the GSR red F-55e's is advertised online using stock photos. It's unique and around here it seems like the few that exist so far were well received. Seller gave me a quote -- they seem reputable -- but says that "we have one in our warehouse" and they check to ensure no damage from Oxnard but otherwise I have no pics, nothing. Still I'm torn between holding out for what I really want but... this could be a good alternative. And GAS is a powerful thing.

Somebody tell me to do it or don't :).

Yeah if you're looking for this group to tell you not to, you're in the wrong place. :)

As long as there's a return policy, finding exactly what you want is generally worth it in my experience.

I know the online forum is really just an excuse to MAKE the purchase rather than to deny gratification. I was half expecting someone to say get both. :)

That's a very good point about a return policy. I'll enquire.

I believe our own Richard has one of the Red GSR F55 models and is very pleased with it. Perhaps he will chime in.

It is a stunning guitar. The color is described as Ox Blood.

As someone who own the F 55 GSR it would be hard for me to think you or anyone else would be unhappy with it. But, forget that, if the black has grabbed you just hold out. One will come along sooner or later.

Hey @KuuKOO did you see richards post about that beautiful GAD F-40 in black a while back. Not USA but one of the early GAD's that are all solid wood and very highly rated by most here!! It was beautiful. On Reverb I think. I mentioned that someone here was looking but I couldn't remember who..... apparently you are!! Did you see it??

Killer price and it looks beautiful!!

I did see that F-40. I'd really like more bling and a bigger size. But it does look amazing.

I take from the other threads that the NAMM F-55 one was the first and this one is a production run.

I doubt I'd have buyer's remorse regardless. This forum is a great way to muddle my way through deciding these things.

IF:

--You're 100% sure the seller is bonafide (It's in their warehouse but they can't take a picture of it for you? Sounds fishy to me.)

--They offer full return privileges, for any reason

--The deal is good

I say go for it.

You can at least be playing the model you want tlll the color you want comes along.

And if you get it for a good price, you may be able to sell it for what you paid for it -- or near enough -- when you score a black one. Maybe even to someone here!

Calido Guitars was the only store who had one and that is the one Richard bought. I have not seen any other store advertising one as "on stock", so I think Oxnard has not even started shipping any yet. So I wondered the same if that store really has one on stock? Show me the pictures...
Proaudiostar also never shows any real pictures on the webpage and no delivery times or "on stock" markings as it looks, I don't know how they sell their gear. Seems to be a gamble when you get what you ordered. Unless I miss something...

Also they show loads of B-stock but give no info why it is B-stock. Odd. But we disussed a possible reason for that B-stock marking:

There was at least one other one I saw listed along the way. I don't see it now though. It was also pretty expensive, about $800 more than what I paid for mine if I remember right.

I see they do have a 30-day return policy but it doesn't apply to "special orders" so confirming. I also wondered if they had on on order and somebody was making an early sale but apparently not. But reading the fine print on the website, it appears their warehouse is in Winchester VA when they are in Brooklyn. Sooooo.....

KuuKOO, if it turns out that you can return it in 30 days, then I'd do it. I suspect you'll be so taken with the F-55 that you'll wanna keep it. Having said that, if you *can't* return it, do not buy it sight unseen. That's my advice.

I love the enabling :). I now have really rationalized getting both. Or a black 60s j-45 that came out. Ha!
