I posted the Reverb listing here a couple weeks ago. I fought my urges but decided I had to have it. It arrived Sunday, went through the acclimation process and is now firmly entrenched in my stable.
As I've posted a few times the Dreadnaughts and Jumbos are my body style of choice and this one is no exception. I now have 4 F 50's and two F 50 R models. At least one of the F 50's will be sold in the Spring to help fund this puppy. A guy is coming over in a bit to check out my F 50R's and he'll likely buy one so I should be good.
The F 50/F 50R is my favorite Guild model, hands down. This one is exceptional. It has an interesting Sitka Spruce top with cool lines. shading running vertically down the body. The back and sides are just drop dead gorgeous. Couple that with a superb LR Bagg's electronics system and you have what I feel may be the perfect guitar. This one has a huge voice and I think even more so than my other 3 F 50's. It is mammoth and I don't think it's just new guitar love talking here.
I seldom buy new unless my intent is to hang onto the guitar and barring any unforseen health issues etc. that's precisely what I intend to do. I know there are still doubters among you as to whether the Oxnard builds can stack up against Hoboken, Westerly, New Hartford etc. The short answer is that it can and does.
This guitar was made for the NAMM show and I bought it from the store owner that had the guitar in stock. One of those Texas guys and you can't really go wrong there I don't think.
I know I'm gushing but just can't help it in this case. But enough already, here's a few pics of the guitar. As usual, my photographic skills suck but you should be able to get an idea of what the guitar is all about.
