In the midst of positively thunderous rain and high-40s temps last Tuesday evening, my wife and I attended a concert at the covered, outdoor concert hall at the Salvation Army in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
I've grown away from this music over the years as I haven't had any occasion to play it in my symphony orchestra work (trumpet). I used to be much closer to it back when I played in brass ensembles and shows.
This band is still as tight and fresh as it was years ago when I used to listen to swing-era stuff a lot. I don't know how many of the big bands are still around, but Glenn Miller's was a real treat.
Anyway, if you want a great night out with family or a significant other, catch these guys when they're touring your area. Great stuff. Turn on the wayback machine!
