I believe that the now deceased James Randi, the Canadian magician, the one who debunked Uri Geller, had a long standing offer of a million dollar cash prize to any home stereo speaker cable company who could demonstrate in a proper double-blind test that their speaker wire was any better than standard 18 gauge lamp cord.

I do not believe that anyone ever took him up on his offer and tried to claim the prize money.
