Why put up a gate if you’re not going to lock it?I wonder if it's locked??
That was my first thought. Then it was my third thought. Then my 7th thought, and that's when I realized I wasn't having fun anymore.....Why put up a gate if you’re not going to lock it?
Right? The bike is leaning on something, no need to have the kickstand down.
Bicycle theft in Las Vegas is so prevalent that you really have to up your game. Don's had two stolen from where he worked. Used a normal chain to attach his bike to the fence in the parking lot. That was gone very quickly. So he got one of those Kryptonite U-bolt things that's supposed to be difficult/impossible to remove. So one day they came and sawed off the whole section of fence that held the bike (post and all) and took it all away. So he got permission to take the bike upstairs with him and store it there. Most people take at least the front wheel with them. If you see a bike at a yard sale/garage sale with no front wheel, you KNOW it's stolen.
That bike shown above would be gone in 2 minutes. Maybe less.
To pawn for gambling cash? Why in Vegas? It doesn't strike me as a place a lot people ride bikes - am I wrong?
The amount of low paid people used to keep the hotels running and profitable are the main thing. Cheap labor, not enough parking, if you could afford a car, which you most likely can't, your bicycle is the only way to work. Pick just ONE hotel on the strip, and you're looking at hundreds and hundreds of people making minimum wage. They take the bus, or ride bicycles. That's their transport. Multiply that times each and every big hotel on the Strip and you're looking at.... a gazillion employees trying to get to work every day. If you have a bike (or steal a bike) you don't even have to buy a bus pass. It's insane. LOTS of people ride bikes here. In the summer it's hell but it's their only transport. Why in Vegas? I think people who haven’t been there might not understand how freaking huge these place are, too. It wouldn’t surprise me If there were a million+ people employed as you describe. The amount of low paid people used to keep the hotels running and profitable are the main thing. I first went there in '78. The original strip that's now basically a museum, was Vegas.I've been to vegas every year or two for the past 40 years. It's crazy the changes they've been through.
